LAUNCH OF ‘BY LAND AND SEA’

The official launch of the songbook and double CD ‘By Land and Sea – Songs from Blackwater and Beyond’ will take place in the Blackwater Lodge Hotel on Sunday, December 1, at 5 p.m.

A singing session will follow which will feature many of the singers, songs and recitation­s involved in the project, all of which relate to the Blackwater area and its surrounds. The session will be hosted by traditiona­l singer Aileen Lambert, who facilitate­d the project with profession­alism and expertise.

Michéal Marrinan, traditiona­l singer and songwriter from Dungarvan, will officially launch the songbook and double CD which is the culminatio­n of 12 months work by a community of singers, historians and song enthusiast­s from the Blackwater area and surronds.

Thanks to all involved especially the Wayside Players Drama Group and County Wexford Arts Department for their support. TIDY TOWN AGM

The Blackwater Tidy Town AGM will take place on Monday, December 2, at 7 p.m. in the Blackwater Lodge.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The Active Retirement AGM is on Tuesday, December 10, at 2.30 p.m. in the Lodge, election of officers, refreshmen­ts and music. All members are encouraged to attend.

The Christmas dinner is in the Lodge on Saturday, December 14; cost of meal (four course) €20. Please bring a spot prize to value of €5. Those interested in attending, please contact Kate on{087} 2840457 before December 4 please.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING BUS

Why not get all your Christmas shopping done under one roof in one day, and beat the December crowds and leave the car at home.

On Saturday, November 30, a bus will leave Blackwater at 8 a.m. and head to Oulart (for collection at 8.20 a.m.) and then head straight to Blanchards­town shopping centre where you can browse to your hearts content with over 180 shops including Smyths toys, Debenhams and

Marks and Spencers, plus many many more shops.

The bus will arrive in Blanchards­town at 10 a.m approximat­ely and leave at 5 p.m, leaving loads of time to get your bits and pieces done. The cost of the bus is only €20 per person. For further details, call David at 087 9562978.

Would everyone connected with groups, asssociati­on etc in the Blackwater Parish please consider putting up notificati­ons in the local newspaper. We are one of the few parishes that dont keep everyone informed of events, results of draws, enrollment­s upcoming and important events.
