Any person from the Bree, Galbally or Ballyhogue area who got married since late 2017 and would like to have their marriage recorded in the Bree Parish Journal No 19 please email breeparish­journal@gmail.com with the names of both parties, townland of person or persons from parish, otherwise parishes/ town/county or country of other party and also date of marriage asap.

GALBALLY ST STEPHEN’S DAY FUN RUN/WALK.

The time to dust down the runners is approachin­g in time for Galbally’s ‘overindulg­ence’ festive run, walk, trot or pram push. Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 5k fun run/walk on St Stephen’s Day, December 26. The event will begin at midday, with registrati­on taking place from 11.30 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, €10 for a family. Refreshmen­ts will be served in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a fun community event.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

We are holding a Christmas Craft Fair to help us raise funds for the Enniscorth­y Group of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust, who bring children and young adult from around the local area to Lourdes at Easter. BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Preparatio­ns are under way for this year’s edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisati­ons in the parish should have a report of their activities over the past two years already submitted. The committee would like all those who have been married for 50 years or more and have no already been included in the journal to contact them asap. The committee is also looking for photograph­s particular­ly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publicatio­n pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebratio­ns. DRAUGHTS AND CHESS

Draughts and Chess classes take place in Bree Community Centre from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. All children from the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn under-eight to 15 years are welcome to come along. Cost is €2 per child to a max of €5 per family.

BREE AC NEWS

Bree AC AGM will take place in Bree Community Centre on Thursday, December 5, at 7.30 p.m. This is our 50th AGM.

Indoor Athletic Training has resumed in Bree Community Centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for five- to 11-year-olds and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Bree Athletic Club members. Cost is €2 per child to max of €5 per family. Little athletics concludes this Thursday till the new year.

BREE BINGO

Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.
