DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION AGM

The annual general meeting of Clonroche Development Association will be held in Clonroche Community Center at 8 p.m. on Monday, February 3.

Now in its 21st year, Clonroche Development Association maintains the village, and is responsible for many functions down through the years. The Development Association constructed the Millennium Park, Johns Lane project, Ballymackessy Wood Walk, and the latest project, The Amenity Area at Spout Road All tree and hedge planting that is visible around the village was planted by Clonroche Development Association.

Clonroche Development Association manage CE Scheme and Tús Nua programs, maintain and purchase the machines necessary for the upkeep of the village like lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmer’s, sprayers tractor and mowing equipment. Also, sprayes, manures, petrol, oil and the direction of their usage.

The Development Association is responsible for the Christmas lighting, the parish party, St Patrick’s Day parade, Tidy Town Entry and many more activities. Many people will remember the vast crowds coming to the vintage rally and they will also remember the Penny Bank, all initiatives undertaken by Clonroche Development Association.

When you see the absence of litter in the village, clean footpaths, the neatly maintained lawns and grass verges, the trimmed hedges, this is all work carried out by Clonroche Development Association

We think at this time of all our many former members, some of them no longer with us, who give unstintingly of their time and effort for the love of their community, their village, and their area.

Clonroche Development Association needs new members. We need input from the younger members of our community.

The AGM on February 3 is open to all, so please come along and have your say, contribute to the meeting and perhaps join the committee to carry on the work of Clonroche Development Association.

PARISH PARTY

The recent Parish Party was a major success, with over 80 people sitting down to a beautiful meal.

With refreshments served throughout the evening, a multitude of spot prizes, and music playing for dancing, most stayed till 5.30 p.m.

Gratitude is extended to everybody involved, The Wildflower Café, for serving a splendid meal, the people who served the tables, prepared the hall, served the drinks, played the music, but above all to the people who turned up on the day, because without them the effort would just be in vain. Thank you for your community spirit.

To those who missed out because of flu or prior engagements we say, ‘see you next time’.

To the people invited who didn’t turn up we say you’re missing out, you’re missing out on community involvement, you’re missing out on the chat and the crack, you are missing out on meeting old friends and making new friends. Maybe we’ll see you next time?
