Music, dinner and prizes at Charity Black Tie Ball

-

THIS year’s Wexford Charity Black Tie Ball takes place in The Talbot Hotel on Saturday, March 28 and will once more seek to raise funds for some of the county’s most hardworking charities.

Now in its third year, the Ball will feature the usual array of music and entertainment, food and drink, and a raffle for a variety of prizes all donated by local businesses.

‘We will have a drinks reception with harpist, Sinead O’Reilly,’ explained organiser Linda Brennan. ‘ Then there’ll be a four-course dinner and music from The Divine Intervention, DJ Eoin Healy and a performance from the girls and boys from the Sarah O’Sullivan School of Dance.

‘ There won’t be an auction this year, instead we will be having a raffle where people can win prizes like a €200 hamper from Rosie and Jim, a three-month gym and pool membership for Talbot Fitness, dinner for four at Marlfield House, and a visit from TeePee, a company who will come and erect a teepee for your kids for a sleepover, that’s worth €100.’

Tickets for the Ball are €55 and all proceeds will go to this year’s selected charities, the Wexford Branch of Family Carers Ireland and the Collective Sensory Group (CSG).

Linda outlined the thinking behind choosing these two organisations.

‘I saw something from the CSG about them requiring help to raise money and, as a special needs assistant myself, I know how hard it is for parents to access services because of the waiting lists.

‘ The Collective Sensory Group provide occupational therapy and speech and language therapy as well as workshops and they also work with parents so I felt they were a fitting choice.

‘With Family Carers I wanted to include a charity which facilitates lots of different people no matter what their ailment is. They help people affected by Alzheimers, which is close to my heart, and provide respite for family members also.’

‘Also on the night, Jane Johnstone will be giving a talk which will tie in with the work these organisations do in the county.’
