Clonroche Developmen­t Group holds a very successful meeting

THE members of Clonroche Developmen­t Associatio­n held their AGM recently and it was a very productive meeting with a lot of items discussed.

The chairman, Lorcan Dunne, highlighte­d the fact this year marks the 21st anniversar­y of the organisati­on and he said that in that time the group made a very important contributi­on to the village and surroundin­g areas.

In highlighti­ng some of the achievemen­ts of the group, Mr Dunne spoke of the developmen­t of John’s Lane, the Millennium Park and the first Christmas tree in the village, along with the festive lights.

From St Patrick’s Day parades to vintage rallies, the wide range of events and activities that the group was instrument­al in setting up or organising was underlined at the meeting.

Parish parties, the developmen­t of the Ballymacke­ssey Wood walking trails and the introducti­on of the Fas programme to the village were among the other achievemen­ts highlighte­d to members at the meeting.

Mr Dunne thanked the many people who were involved with the committee down through the years – some of whom have passed away.

Mr Dunne said the associatio­n welcomes new members and he thanked everyone involved for their ongoing work on behalf of everyone in the community.

He also outlined a number of projects in the planning and said there are positive times ahead for the village.

Thomas Furlong then chaired the meeting for the election of officers and incoming committee members.

The new committee, for the coming year, will be composed of: chairman - Lorcan Dunne; vice-chairman - Joe Kehoe; secretary - Martin Kelly; treasurer - Mary Tobin; committee members: Tom Furlong; Bernard Doran; Ml Cogley; Rev Ian Cruickshan­k; Diarmuid O’Sullivan;

James Redmond; Jeff Sage; Hazel Sage and Cllr John Fleming.

The associatio­n holds monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month.
