Kiltealy create big cup upset by dumping Corach

ALL MATCHES bar one survived the weekend weather, with all three outstandin­g cup ties getting played, and Seaview United, Adamstown and Kiltealy Celtic all going through to the last eight.

Seaview overcame Fastnet 5-0 with goals from Róisín O’Donohoe, Lisa Dower, Jess Devereux, Bríd Kehoe and Chloe Hannigan.

Ciara Rees was on target for All Blacks, but two goals from Sandra White and one each from Chantelle Martin and Patrice Lawlor saw Adamstown progress to the last eight.

Kiltealy Celtic created an upset when they travelled to Corach and overcame the Division 1 title challenger­s 3-1 after extra-time.

Orlaith Kehoe put the visitors in front, but Grace Donovan scored for Corach to bring the game to extra-time.

It looked to be going to penalties until five minutes from the end of extra-time, when Orlaith Kehoe converted a penalty to put Kiltealy in front.

Corach piled forward in search of an equaliser but got caught on the break, and Clodagh O’Leary scored for the visitors to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Ferns and Forth are joint top of the Premier Division after both recorded comfortabl­e wins against Courtown Hibs and North End respective­ly.

Leona Breen (four), Hayley Nolan (two), Rachel Collier, Liz Evered, Josie Dwyer, Nicola Davitt and Mary Dwyer all scored for Ferns in their 11-0 win, while Sarah Siggins (four), Natasha Byrne-Rossiter (two), Rianna Cullen and Lynn-Marie Grant were on target for Forth in their 8-0 victory.

In Division 1, Camolin Celtic overcame St. Joseph’s 5-0 to move safely into a mid-table position, with two each from Georgina Creane and Megan Murray, and one from Emma Carton.

Top played bottom as leaders Bree travelled to Tombrack, but they had to endure a tough battle before eventually leaving with three points in a 2-1 win.

Ciara McKelvie and Shonagh Spratt-Murphy scored for the visitors, while Shannon McGovern was on target for the home side.

In Division 2, New Ross Town kept the pressure on leaders Kiltealy as they came away from in-form Bunclody 4-2 winners.

Jenny Holmes and Aoife Dunne were on target for the home side, with Jenny Canning (two), Sinéad Ryan and Jenny O’Keeffe all scoring for Town.

The line-up for the last 16 of the Under-12 Schoolgirl­s’ Cup is now known as the weather eventually eased off enough to allow several games to go ahead.

Rosslare Rangers Navy travelled to New Ross Celtic and came away 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Eabha Griffin, Izzy Finney, and two from Caoimhe Corish.

A young Rosslare Rangers Yellow side were no match for one of the competitio­n favourites and, despite a battling performanc­e, were well beaten by Ballindagg­in.

Goals from Keira Carroll, Ciara Murphy, Lucy Hayes, Paige Gainfort and Eve Howlin saw a very clinical Bridge Rovers side overcome Cushinstow­n.

Gorey Rangers also booked their place in the second round as two goals from Rebecca Keating and one each from Róisín Redmond and Grace Beesley saw them beat Forth Celtic 4-0.

All Blacks travelled to Bunclody and came away 5-1 winners, with Chloe Leybourne scoring for the home side.

Eva Smith and Jolie Rankin scored two each for the winners, with Sinéad Mulligan also getting her name on the scoresheet.

St. Leonards also progressed to the last 16 as they overcame North End on a 4-1 scoreline, with Sophie Kinsella on target for the visitors and Courtney Whelan, Sophie Rossiter and two from Katie Ryan making up the St. Leonards total.

In the Under-12 Premier Division, two of the title favourites, Curracloe and New Ross Town, played out an entertaini­ng 1-1 draw, with Aoibhinn Downey on target for Town.

In Division 1, Shelburne and Rosslare Strand played out a high-scoring 3-3 draw. Abbey Cowman scored two, with Lily O’Reilly also on target.

Erin Donlon and Caitlin Whelan both scored for Coolboy Rangers as they defeated Corach Ramblers 2-1 after coming from a goal behind.

Between Gaynor Cup fixtures and weather, only one game survived at Under-16 level, with Seaview United overcoming All Blacks 2-1.

Sinéad Cullen was on target for All Blacks, while Ava White-Keating scored both goals for the winners.

The Wexford Schoolgirl­s’ League Under-13 and Under-15 squads were in action in Gaynor Cup qualifiers as they entertaine­d the Midlands Schoolgirl­s’ League in Bunclody.

The Under-15s started well with a goal from Ella Nolan but, within seven minutes, Midlands were back level.

That was all the visitors were allowed though, as Wexford took control, and two goals from Emma Cullen plus one each from Olivia Morris and Aoibh Thomas saw the home side run out comfortabl­e 5-1 winners.

Next up were the Under-13s who had drawn their first game in Kildare and were hoping to pick up three points in this home tie.

They came from 2-1 down at the break to move into a 3-2 lead, with Issy Kenna scoring a hat-trick, but three minutes from the end, Midlands broke through to score and take away a point.
