Gala to support Special Olympics

SOME five clubs and 213 Special Olympics athletes from across Co Wexford are to be among those to benefit from the Gala Group’s announceme­nt that they are to become official sponsors for Special Olympics Ireland.

Enniscorth­y Gala wholesaler H. Murphy & Co in Enniscorth­y were delighted to attend the official launch of the sponsorshi­p, which was attended by ambassador­s Keith Wood and Micheál Ó’Mhuirchear­taigh.

Gala have committed to invest a six-figure sum as part of their platinum sponsorshi­p of Special Olympics Ireland, which will benefit more than 8,000 athletes nationwide.

Gala’s renewed partnershi­p will see the Group supporting Special Olympics Team Ireland athletes in the upcoming Ireland Winter Games, taking place in March; the Special Olympics World Winter Games (2021), the Special Olympics Ireland Games (2022) and the Special Olympics World Summer Games (2023), as well as supporting athletes across the country in area and regional games throughout the year.
