ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

The St Patrick’s Day parade, which is becoming an annual event, will be held in the Harrow on Tuesday, March 17, starting at 1 p.m. Registrati­on opens at midday and there will be floats, displays and marchers in various categories including Novelty, vintage, traditiona­l and Agricultur­al, taking part. Every group, club or organisati­on in the greater Boolavogue area is invited to enter the parade. Anyone interested in participat­ing should contact Caroline at 087 1306957 or Eithne at 087 6960370.

IRISH PILGRIMAGE TRUST TUPPERWARE PARTY.

A Tupperware Party in aid of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust will be held in the Oulart Community Centre this Friday, February 28, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Refreshmen­ts will be served and there will also be a raffle on the night. All the money raised will go towards funding a week long trip to Lourdes for a group of young adults wil additional needs. GAA NEWS

The Activ8 fitness iniative is continuing in Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club and everyone is invited to the club complex on Wednesday nights for free circuit training classes from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. It’s great fun, tailored to the individual needs of each participan­t and you’ll meet lovely people there.

TABLE QUIZ

The GAA, camogie and Ladies’ Football clubs are hosting a huge table quiz in the Monageer Tavern this Friday, February 21, starting at 9 p.m. The cost is only €10 for a table of four and you are guaranteed great entertainm­ent.

GAA GAELTACHT SCHOLARSHI­PS

Any underage player registered with Monageer-Boolavogue GAA Club, who wishes to put their name in the hat for a chance to win a subsidised place on the residentia­l Gaeltacht courses held in Good Counsel in New Ross in July, should contact secretaryb­ng.monageerbo­olavogue.wexford@gaa.ie as soon as possible. The draw for places on the courses will be held on Thursday, February 27. There are two courses, one running from June 23 till July 7 for second. year to fifth. year secondary school pupils and another, running from July 10 to July 24 for sixth. class to second. year pupils.

SOCCER NEWS

All games were postponed on the weekend of February 16 and 17 due to Storm Denis. But on Tuesday last, the 18th., the under-nines fielded against Newpark in a rearranged match. Both teams played brilliant football on a bitterly cold evening and all our boys and girls gave excellent displays from start to finish.

Our neighbours in Monageer wish to thank all those who joined them in their recent Valentine’s Night social dance in Monageer hall. With music provided by Larry Champion, it was a great success and they are already planning another. This social dance in aid of parish funds, will take place on Friday, March 13, and tickets cost €10.

FORÓIGE NOTES

Boolavogue’s Foróige club would like to thank everyone who helped make their recent ‘senior citizens’ Party’ such a success. They would like to thank the very generous donors who supplied food and drink, all those who helped with the cooking and especially the senior citizens who were such wonderful guests. The members of the club is looking forward to next year’s party already.
