Wilson on cloud nine after indoor Senior title

D.M.P. athlete’s super Senior victory

CIARA WILSON of D.M.P. had a convincing victory in the 3,000m at the national Senior indoor championsh­ips held at Abbotstown last weekend.

Her time of 9.35 minutes gave her a comfortabl­e twelve seconds margin over the field.

Michael Bowler of Enniscorth­y A.C. was fifth in the pole vault.

The Wexford road race season commenced on Sunday as S.B.R.

A.C. hosted the county Novice championsh­ips in Ferns.

S.B.R. had a clean sweep in the individual placings in the men’s race, with Ryan Gleeson winning, Niall O’Connor second, and Thomas Kavanagh third.

Owen Power in tenth place meant that, on 16 points, they were easy winners of team gold ahead of Slaney Olympic in second (36) and Croghan in third (48).

In the women’s race, two newcomers from Croghan, Frances Doran and Sandra Bernie, stole the show with gold and silver medals respective­ly.

Kate Reidy of United Striders was third and collected the bronze medal.

With Croghan taking five of the top seven positions, they took the team title with 14 points ahead of S.B.R. in second (33) and thirdplace­d United Striders (49).
