JOAN HIPWELL

Hello everyone. Hope youse are all well. There we go, another 3 weeks gone by. It’s getting near Hope and Dream 2020 if anyone wants to sign up you can still do it but bare it in mind it’s coming around quick. If you just want to come along and enjoy the day we would love your support. As regards our training it’s going well each week. It’s getting harder too. Sean Nolan in Pump Palace is brilliant and very supportive as is all his team, thanks for all your support. I have done a 10k run with the Slaney Olympic club back on Sunday, February 16, out I went to the old Dublin out to Scarawalsh roundabout up the main road which wasn’t easy especially when I saw Kevin. I thought he might have joined in and I have to go harder. Instead he was full of encouragement and to keep going. I then went in by Clearstream and went around the route again.

Along the way Mags gave me encouragement I did finish the 10k. Thanks everyone that day for your support, Caragh and Noel thanks also for your support.

The next day Monday I was a little sore and stiff so I got thinking maybe it was time to get some physio. I rang Bryan and Julie in Crouch and Kirwan. Julie answered the phone I made appointment to go in on Friday. When I went in Bryan and Julie are so nice and helpful. Bryan put on what looked like fisherman’s boots and attached them to a machine I forgot to ask the name of it, I will when I’m in again. It tightened on the feet and legs for nearly a hour it was actually very relaxing the best thing was I left my phone in my coat and couldn’t reach it so I had to relax.

Julie came in and out and gave me some exercise to do which I am trying to do thanks Bryan and Julie are based in the old L and N car park I would highly recommended them Crouch and Kirwan thank you for your help. As I was coming out I spoke to a person in with Bryan and Julie who I hadn’t seen for along time it was good to catch up with you. If you’re not ready to do Hope and Dream maybe come out and support us would be delighted to see you.

Before all the physio I went for reflexology with Mary Fitzpatrick better know as Sonny Holistic Therapy based just outside Bunclody near Kildavin up a little road I first met Mary four years ago when I was pregnant I had some reflexology and a Indian head message back than and it was lovely to relax and enjoy it. I decided to give Mary a ring and have some reflexology and it was brilliant to relax after the 10k. I will be back Mary after hope and dream. If anyone needs time out and to relax I would highly recommend Mary for reflexology. After all that I aloud it’s time to get hair done it was long overdue with everything happening at the moment it’s hard to fine time. I rang Joyce in Glamourize Bunclody she was very helpful and fitted me in late Friday evening after work as I enter Joyce I was met by a young man Thomas who was full of chat and wanted to know all about the hope and dream and the hope centre. Thanks Thomas for chat not forgetting your bothers Keane and Lar. Thanks to Joyce and your team for your hard work at last minute. All I can say to everyone it is nice to take time out and to relax and don’t feel guilty we all attend to do that. On till next time take care talk soon.

CATHERINE WALSH

I never look forward to putting on those runners and heading out for a long walk. Those little demons inside coming up with every excuse not to bother. A couple of weeks ago I came home from work, it was already getting dark and got ready for my walk. I had a look outside and in the darkness I could see it had started to rain.

I quickly closed the door, the telly was on and the house was nice and cosy. I kicked off the runners, flopped down, remote control in hand for a night watching the soaps. After a couple of minutes my thoughts turned to all those people who use the Hope Centre in Enniscorthy and those depending on Hospice Homecare and the wonderful services both provide and how each and every one of them would love to be able to close the door on their illness as quickly as I closed my front door that night. I stood up, put back on the runners, and headed out into the darkness. I was about 15 minutes into the walk and the snow started, wind and snow pelting my face.

I could see people passing by in their cars wondering was I crazy. I actually started laughing to myself and I quickened my pace in the cold, sleet and snow, all the while thinking about my Mam, Louise my sister, my friend Anne and all my friends in Relay for Life and all those who are suffering.

I still hate the thoughts of going out in the cold, but have never said I was sorry I went for that walk. Come on Hope &Dream 2020, let’s be havin’ya
