€25,197 is presented to local school
ST Senan’s Primary School in Enniscorthy has been presented with a cheque for €25,197.66, thanks to the generosity and caring nature of the staff in local company, BD Enniscorthy.
The money was presented by the company’s fundraising team to the school and it will be used to develop the Autistic Unit in the school.
The St Senan’s Autistic Unit was the chosen charity of choice by the BD Enniscorthy fundraising team, which has also worked towards supporting Our Lady of Fatima School in Wexford.
A spokesperson for the company told this newspaper that the aim of the fundraising drive was ‘to provide support to local schools that needed some help getting the school grounds ready for opening’.
‘BD provided the labour resource and the materials for the works involved,’ she said.
‘Two values that BD Enniscorthy have are ‘community’ and ‘everyone counts’ and we welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate these values in our local community serving two schools that play a very important role in ensuring that there is opportunity to be supported in a school where students of all abilities are given the chance to learn to the best of their own individual ability,’ said the spokesperson.
Speaking about the cheque presentation, she said everyone involved was delighted to be able to help such a worthy cause.
‘We have been fundraising on behalf of the Autistic Unit over the last year and have raised €25,197.66 in total.
‘With this money they will be enhancing and extending the sensory facilities available both for the Autistic Unit and for the benefit of everyone in the school,’ she added.
St Senan’s Primary School is renowned for the quality of education and care it provides to its pupils and there is a strong emphasis on integration in the school. The school adopts a wide range of programmes and initiatives to ensure that all pupils who attend achieve their potential.
