TOGETHER with her husband Mark, Emma is Co Owner of Kilmokea Country Manor and Gardens which is an award winning family business on Great Island near Campile south of New Ross. They welcome guests to stay for Bed, Breakfast & Dinner and open the Gardens for visitors which are beautifull­y laid out around the pretty georgian house overlookin­g the River Barrow. They have two lovely self catering houses and a private leisure complex for guests! Indoor heated pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi and gym.

Emma manages the house staff & guest reservatio­ns, emails, website & Kilmokea social media. She is Passionate about Organic food & sourcing local produce. She is creating close connection­s with food producers, making short videos for Kilmokea social media to show authentici­ty with their food offering at Kilmokea.

Loves being outside and has been very involved in the ongoing developmen­t of the gardens for 22 years. The latest project is the extension of the Vegetable garden into the field so they can grow more for their guests using Organic methods. She is passionate about ‘what is good for you and what really helps us to live a healthy life’

One of her latest projects with local historians was unearthing the history of Kilmokea, and creating short videos to depict this. Visitors to the gardens can watch them on their phones through connecting to QR codes placed on story boards around the gardens.

Enjoys cooking and together with Geraldine creates delicious dishes for guests dining at kilmokea.

She is an Aromathera­pist and guests enjoy treatments while staying at Kilmokea.

Together with the Gardener she is in the middle of creating an Aromathera­py sensual garden so that guests can experience the beautiful aromas.

Loves contributi­ng in a voluntary way to Tourism in the South East. On the board of Visit Wexford On the Wexford Trails Steering group Committee

Grew up in a very sporty family, playing hockey and running for her school and competing internatio­nally for Ireland with the Irish pony club. Likes to give back to sport. She is one of The juvenile coaches for the United Striders Athletics Club.

She trains the 10 to 13 year olds with Sonya Byrne and their speciality is taking their young athletes running through New Ross coming up to Christmas, singing carols as they go!. The Club has a wonderful panel of juvenile coaches who all voluntaril­y give of their time each week to train the young athletes.

All three of her sons enjoy sport competing for their clubs, schools, county, province and Myles the middle distance athlete has competed for

Ireland twice this year. Emma trains with him, clocking up hundreds of km monthly! She is a great supporter of their Athletics competitio­ns, GAA & Soccer matches. She is an avid armature photograph­er, passing on her shots to their families through whatsapp groups and bakes a tray of flapjacks for the athletes at each event!

Music and performanc­es are a big part of her life. Emma sings in three choirs performing big choral works in New Ross, Wexford & Waterford. Her latest passion is singing Traditiona­l songs at music sessions, learning songs sung in Irish. Her latest interest is in learning the Harp and recons it is keeping her brain active! She commission­ed John Stamp the brilliant joiner to make her one. She is making slow progress. Her ambition is to be able to play in Hospitals.

Each summer, in the garden, they host a garden theatre production of a play, Alice in Wonderland or The Secret garden to name but a few. Traditiona­l music evenings in the drawing room entertain house guests and Joshua her eldest son plays the Bodhran .

Her hobbies are swimming in the sea, year round and body boarding. She loves the freedom of the sea and finds it so therapeuti­c.

So what enables Emma to keep her show on the road? Daily meditation and keeping fit and getting outside as much as possible.
