‘Spot’ wins it for North End

Premier Division

Paul ‘Spot’ Murphy was the match winner for North End United on Sunday, as he scored the only goal of the game against Rosslare Rangers to maintain their threepoint advantage at the top of the T.J. Murphy’s Premier Division.

Second-placed Shamrock Rovers had a much more comfortabl­e triumph as they stormed to a 7-0 success over Cloughbawn.

Chris ‘Hopper’ Kenny bagged a hat-trick, Marty Kelly added a double, while John O’Connor and

James Carty netted a goal apiece.

Meanwhile, Bunclody and Wexford Bohs shared the spoils after a 3-3 draw. Bunclody’s goals came from Dion Dunne, with a superb backheel finish, P.J. Mulhall and Stephen Ryan, while Seán Pailing, Aaron Lambert and Todd Hynes (penalty) hit the back of the net for Bohs.

Division1

Glynn Barntown kept themselves in the promotion hunt with a 4-1 win over Bridge Rovers in Castlebrid­ge on Sunday.

Nigel Usher opened the scoring but Bridge Rovers levelled through Tom Keavney before the break.

However, the visitors took control after the interval and a Kieran Kelly goal and a Robert Dempsey double sealed the deal.

Meanwhile, St. Cormac’s earned a welcome three points when overcoming Tombrack 3-0 with goals from Matty Dunne, Liam Walsh and Cormac Finn.

Division2

St. Leonards moved to within three points of leaders Curracloe thanks a 3-1 win over Rosslare Port on Sunday.

Shane Ryan bagged a double, with Adrian Flynn also hitting the back of the net for the winners.

Gorey Celtic boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1 win over Shamrock Rovers, with Eddy Prudskpjs and Paddy Fleming netting for the winners and Tom O’Brien replying.

Division3

Wexford Celtic put themselves very much in the promotion hunt after hitting bottom side Cushinstow­n for six without reply on Sunday. Kyle Mann and Luke Codd both bagged doubles for the Sinnottsto­wn Lane outfit, while Ryan Lynch and Richie Browne added a goal apiece.

Keith Murphy, Anthony Hayes and Ger Doyle got the goals for Forth Celtic in their 3-0 win over struggling Bree United.

Meanwhile, Michael O’Regan and Daniel O’Regan scored for Killenagh Wanderers to earn them a 2-2 draw in Duncannon, with Aaron Curry and Michael O’Grady netting for the seasiders.
