On behalf of Slaney Olympic, I would like to send out a huge congratulations to Marie Chapman on completing her 150th marathon! She took part in the Transgrancanaria 2020 in Las Palmas.

This was not an easy technical mountain marathon as it had 1,200m positive elevation, four timed checkpoints, and very narrow/rocky terrain. Although she took a tumble during the race, hurting her wrist, Marie prevailed with a fantastic time of 7:48:14 (16th overall for her age category).

Enjoy the rest of your holiday Marie, and we look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

The Slaney Olympic legends that are Joe and Kay O’Regan had brilliant times in the Kinvara Rock and Road 10k. Returning to his native Kinvara, Joe cruised in with a time of 1:05:37 and came in second in the Over-70 male category.

Kay was not far behind with a time of 1:13:42 and was first in the Over-70 female category. They are both an inspiration to all runners and we are delighted to see them still out there pounding the pavement.

At Wexford, Will Doyle was second overall with a time of 19:00 for his 33rd Parkrun. He was followed by Anne Marie Doyle who came in with a time of 23:59 for her 38th Parkrun.

At Gorey, Annis Kehoe had another strong run with a time of 33:06 for her 124th Parkrun.

Upcoming event: June 21, Strawberry 5/10 mile run and walk at 10 a.m., The Promenade, Enniscorthy.
