GALBALLY RUN/WALK

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host its second 10k run and 5k walk on Sunday, March 15. The event will begin at 1 p.m., with sign-in taking place from midday onwards. Entry fee is €15 for the 10k run which will be chip timed, and €5 for the 5k walk (not chip-timed). There will be prizes for the first male and female, first under-16 and under-12. Refreshmen­ts will be served to all participan­ts in the hall afterwards. Online registrati­on for the 10k run can be made on Eventbrite.ie. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a great community event.

SCOIL EOIN BAISTE GALBALLY

Scoil Eoin Baiste, Galbally will be hosting an Open Night on Thursday, March 19, at 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. We invite parents and prospectiv­e students to visit our school. BREE OPEN MEETING

You are invited to an open meeting’ Your Health from the Ground Up’ with particular reference to ‘Healthy Soil and Healthy Food for Human Health and Happiness’ on Monday, March 23, in Bree Community Centre at 6.55 p.m. Keynote speakers include Tara Kelly (Diabetes Digital Media UK), Declan Coyle Training and Developmen­t Consultant­s, Dr Patrick Wall Professor Public Health, University College Dublin (UCD) and former chairperso­n of the European Food Safety Authority, David Atherton CEO of Thomson and Joseph and Ivor Cummins Chief Programme Officer of Irish Heart Disease Awareness.

BREE MACRA

Bree Macra is celebratin­g its 60th Anniversar­y in 2020. To celebrate this achievemen­t, they are hosting an Anniversar­y Dinner dance on Friday, March 27, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y. This is a great opportunit­y for Macra members past and present to get together and reminisce on old memories of their time in Bree Macra. CELTIC ROOTS 21 YEARS

A celebratio­n of 21 years of Celtic Roots will take place in the National Opera House Wexford on Sunday, March 29, at 7.30 p.m. Tickets available online from the National Opera House at €22 for adults and €15 for children. Booking fee applies.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Best wishes to the four local teams competing in the Co Draughts on Saturday, March 14. Local Quiz Trials take place in Bree Hall on Saturday, March 21, at 8 p.m. County final for quiz takes place on April 1. Details of all local events are in local schools and in local shops. Full details of all events are on the Aldi Community Games website. Well done to the Chess team which finished in fourth place in the recent county final. Team members were Nathan Doyle, Con Fraser Matthew Jordan, Riona Kehoe, Luke Jordan, Cathal O’Brien and Fergal Doyle. Team Coach was Martin Humphrey.

FREE COMPUTER COURSE

‘Getting Citizens Online’, a free basic computer course suitable for absolute beginners of any age starts in Galbally Sports and Leisure Club on Thursday, March 26, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and runs for five weeks. For further details and to book a place contact Dawn at 087 8306206.

BALLYHOGUE GAA LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the recent GAA lotto were 1, 7, 10 and 15. There was no jackpot winner. Match-three winners were Damian Smith, Oonagh Neary, Tom Levingston­e, Ger Dempsey and Natasha Nowacki. The next jackpot is €2,200 and the draw will be on March 18.

FASHION SHOW

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a ‘Spring into summer’ Fashion Show in Whites Hotel, Wexford on Thursday, April 1. This event will showcase men’s and ladies’ fashions from local shops including the Clotheslin­e, Candy, Hore’s Stores, Carrig Donn, Julie Caulfield Boutique (Kilmore) and In Stitch (Bridgetown). Tickets are €10 each and are available from participat­ing shops and from any committee member. There will be raffle with many great prizes, a €100 door prize and a €100 voucher for the best dressed audience member. Definitely, a night not to be missed.

CAR BOOT SALE

The next Galbally car boot sale will take place on Easter Monday, April 13, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Galbally Sports and Leisure Club. Bookings can be made by phoning Dawn at 087 8306206.

LAUGH FOR HOPE AND HOSPICE

‘Laugh for Hope and Hospice’ is the name of a theatrical group that is planning a tour of local venues over the coming weeks.

A spokespers­on for the group said everyone involved is ‘on the road again and ready for action’.

The show promises to be full of laughter and it’s being organised to raise money for the Hope Centre in Enniscorth­y and Wexford Hospice Homecare.

Donations will be accepted on the door at the venues which include: Millenium Bar, Davidstown (Saturday, March 14); Mernagh’s Bar, Oylegate (Saturday, March 21); IFA Centre, Enniscorth­y (Saturday, March 28) and the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboo­la (Saturday, April 4). All shows will begin at 9 p.m.
