Tributes for Hope Centre retiree Rita

-

ONE of the most valued and experienced staff members of the Hope Centre in Enniscorthy was honoured recently after retiring from the organisation.

Rita Lett has worked with the organisation since its inception. In her role, she worked predominantly with children and families.

One aspect of her work was in the area of art therapy and group counselling and she was a highly valued member of staff.

Blessed with an amiable and down-to-earth personality Rita’s sincerity and passion for her role and the overall work of the Hope Centre meant she was very popular with service users.

The party that was organised in her honour was relatively low key, in keeping with the fact that while her work with the Hope Centre was invaluable Rita herself is a person who just likes to go about her work away from the spotlight.

In addition to her work with the Hope Centre, Rita also worked with Solace Cancer Support Centre in Waterford and also with the HSE.

The organisers of the party invited former colleagues of hers, from both organisations to join with her colleagues from the Hope Centre for the party, which took place in the Riverside Park Hotel.

Family members also joined in the occasion in wishing Rita well in her retirement.

A celebratory cake was baked especially for the occasion and the message that adorned it, perhaps, highlighted in an exemplary manner the high regard in which Rita is held by everyone who knows her. It simply said one can’t retire from being great.

The party was organised by Denis O’Connor who made a speech on the night. Rita’s colleagues were also invited to pay tribute to her at the event and it was very emotional for all concerned.

As one of the people who attended commented: ‘It was emotional for a number of reasons and some of those present hadn’t seen each other for a long time and it was nice for people to be able to acknowledge Rita and how much she means to them.’

Rita was also presented with flowers on the night.
