The lost highway is a new road to fantastic music

- By BRENDAN KEANE

THE Bailey Bar and Restaurant in Enniscorthy provided the venue for a brand new music club event recently which could herald a new era in music gigs for the county.

The Lost Highway Roots

Music Club is the brainchild of local music fan and promoter, Eamonn Doyle, of the recently established promotion and event company, Real Rockin’ Roots Music Services (RRR Music).

With 20 years experience working with music-related community events like The Blackstairs Blues, Rockin’ Food [Music Section], Strawberry Roots, and Slaney Valley Bluegrass festivals, Eamonn has a comprehensive worldwide contact book.

Eamonn said he is constantly being asked for help by top class roots musicians from all over the world who want to tour Ireland.

While the country is very well served by big promoters there are less opportunities for lesser known, albeit just as talented, artists. Sometimes pubs aren’t suitable for an artist playing original music and the Lost Highway Roots Music Club is designed to be a local link into a national circuit of listening venues that Eamonn is working on developing.

‘ There are hundreds of great little venues across this island supporting quality music but they have never been properly connected or organised,’ said Eamonn.

The launch night event featured the sublime talent of the BC Blues band and headliner, Atco Atkinson, who provided fantastic sets, respectively, for a very appreciative audience.
