SCHOOL NEWS

CLOTHES COLLECTION POSTPONED – Our scheduled clothes collection has been postponed till further notice. We will run one again when school is open. We will keep you informed of a new date.

COFFEE MORNING/CAKE SALE – Ballycanew National School would like to invite you to come and have a cuppa and a bun at their coffee morning and cake sale on Thursday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the school. Donations of cakes can be left into the school office the mornings of Wednesday the first or Thursday, April 2. There will also be a raffle taking place with some lovely Easter hampers. All money will go towards purchasing resource for the school. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – Our book fair from March 23 to March 26 has been postponed. We now will run it from May 25 to May 29 from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Commission from all the purchases will be used to purchase more books for the school library. Parents and members of the public are most welcome to attend as their support would be very much appreciate­d. Mobile book cases packed with the best books will be displayed in the school.

ENROLMENTS – These are now being taking for new pupils for September 2020. Please call to the school office or call 053 9427496 for an enrolment pack.

SPRING CLEAN DAY

As part of the Green School the pupils, staff and parents of Ballycanew National School to tidy the village and the school grounds for the National Spring Clean Day. This will help towards the Tidy Towns Competitio­n.

The event takes place on Friday, April 24 (weather dependant) from 11.15 a.m. 12.15 p.m. All interested volunteers meet in the schools grounds. Gloves and bags will be provided. Your help would be greatly appreciate­d. Please contact the school at 053 9427496 if you would like to help out on the day.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the February 29 winner, Maeve Scully, prize money was €204. Congratula­tions. Thanks to everyone for their continue support.

ST PATRICK’S GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot; winning numbers were 6, 7, 8 and 17; no matchthree winners so €150 was donated to Hope and Dream.

FIRST RESPONDERS

Enrolment is now open for September 2020 for Ballyought­er National School. Expression of interest forms also available for 2021. Gorey bus links timetable, six days a week. Outbound Monday to Saturday Ballycanew Roundabout 9.23 a.m., Return Ballycanew Roundabout 1.48 p.m. and 5.48 p.m. Free Travel Pass accepted and Single Fare €5.
