Whitewood wraps up stake
Excellent runs recorded on behind-closed-doors card
THERE WAS some great racing at Enniscorthy dog track last week.
It was a pity it had to be behind closed doors, but some excellent runs were recorded. It was an eight-race all finals night run on Monday, March 16.
The highlight was in race seven, the final of the A3/4 575. The Laura Earle-owned Whitewood Lad was again impressive when winning the stake unbeaten, racing home a clear six lengths ahead of Murrays Jet in a time of 32.04 -30 slow.
Race eight was the Guys and Dolls A2 550 final, and Nametab Ostara put up the performance of the night when getting a good break to lead into the back straight.
The writing was on the wall as she stays very strongly, and she was six lengths clear of Kiltrea Dawn who ran on well to grab second.
Nametab was recording her seventh race win in a fast time of 30.29 -30 slow.
The Bar One Easter Unraced second round was run on Thursday night, and Liam Butler’s Salah Be Slick followed up his good win in the first round to again put in a flawless run when taking heat three (race six).
He led all the way to score by three lengths from the running on Piercestown
Mist in a good 29.27 -30 slow.
However, the fastest of four second round heats saw Southfield Billy, trained by Patrick Kehoe, winning the first by seven lengths and recording a time of 29.06 -30 slow.
After taking up the running and getting around the first bend in front, Billy just drew away from the field for an easy win.
This week’s semi will be interesting as these novices keep improving and some fast runs can be expected.
