Dedicated family woman Sheila was a lady with many talents

-

SHEILA DUNBAR (nee Murphy), who passed away on March 17 aged 85, was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, dedicating her life to her family.

Born in Gurteen, Bunclody, on January 27, 1935 to Julia and Denis Murphy, Sheila grew up on the family farm with her four sisters and six brothers. She always kept in touch with her family and had many fond memories of growing up and of nights singing and dancing with the Mummurs at the family home.

She had many happy memories attending the old girls school and was in the first class of pupils to attend the Bunclody Vocational school. She then enjoyed working in Ballymoney Post Office, in close proximity to her dear sister Mary.

Sheila married Ned Dunbar on June 1, 1960, and settled next door to the family farm where she went on to rear her family, Michael, Denis,

Catherine, Eamonn, Julie and Anthony.

She was a proud housewife, always busy at home, her specialities being brown bread, apple tarts and a variety of homemade jam. She also loved having time for gardening, knitting and sewing. She was devoted to her 21 grandchildren, never forgetting their birthdays.

Sheila was active in the community, attending local events, helping out in the church, and later spending nearly eight years working with her dear friends on the Ros Tapestry.

Sheila passed away at Castle Garden Nursing Home on St

Patrick’s Day.

Sheila’s funeral Mass was held in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Bunclody, on Thursday March 19, and she was interred afterwards in Bunclody Calvary Cemetery.

Sheila is sadly missed by her sister Alice, children; daughters-in-law; sons-in-law, grandchildren; nephews; nieces; relatives and friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace
