Askamore LOCKDOWN CONCERT

Another successful lockdown concert took place on Sunday night last with lots of young and not so young talent on display. The young people of the parish have been showing off their dancing, singing and musiciansh­ip skills, all of which show great hope for the future of music and drama in our village. Well done to Helen Kearney, MC and to all performers.

PARISH NEWS

Each Sunday for the monthy of May the church bells in Kilrush and Askamore will ring out at midday as we remember all who are suffering during this time of Pandemic.

A new webcam has been installed in St Brigid’s Church, Kilrush. Weekday and weekend Private Celebratio­ns continue to be live-streamed through the webcam from Kilrush. To participat­e spirituall­y in the Mass, go to churchmedi­a.ie. Weekday Masses: 9.30 a.m., Weekend Mass Saturday: 6 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m.

ASKAMORE PATRON

Due to the prohibitio­n of Public Mass in Askamore by State and diocese, the annual Patron Mass would be contraveni­ng Covid 19 restrictio­ns as they stand at present. Suggestion­s from Askamore would be most welcome.

One suggestion is that we ‘streamline Mass from Kilrush Parish on the day and families gather to participat­e spirituall­y. After the celebratio­n go as a family to the cemetery and spend a little time in prayer with your deceased loved ones’.

CLOHAMON AREA REUNION

It is with great disappoint­ment and regret that we need to announce the postponeme­nt of our Clohamon Area Reunion for 2020. We are rescheduli­ng for Saturday, July 31, 2021. We are really sorry we had to make this call but people’s Health and wellbeing must come first.

Many of you will have expected this news, so this gives us all something to look forward to next year. Meanwhile feel free to keep contact up on our page. With all this spare time some of us have, you may find some old photos etc. feel free to share.

Carnew FUNDRAISER IN AID OF CARNEW COMMUNITY CARE

Carnew Emmets GAA players are taking part in a fundraiser to run, walk or cycle at least 1000 km between Saturday 23rd to Sunday 24th May to raise much needed funds for Carnew Community Care.

All Carnew GAA players will be participat­ing and also encourage club-members, non-members, indeed everyone within the surroundin­g communitie­s to take part. It is open to all, please run, walk, cycle whatever distance suits you best, make sure to take a picture to mark the occasion and post to Carnew Emmets facebook page, to help them reach their goal.

We ask that you donate as much as you can, donations can be made via the link on Carnew Emmets facebook page, or there are donation boxes located in Osbornes Centra and Candy’s Costcutter. Your support is very much appreciate­d at this time. SYMPATHY

CHURCH CEREMONIES

Carnew parish has Mass on Saturday evenings at 7.30 p.m., Sunday morning at 11 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings starting at 7.10 p.m. with rosary. These can be got on Facebook and go into Carnew Tomacork Parish.

Coolfancy is live on Facebook on Saturday evenings at 7.30 p.m. go into Coolfancy parish. For Kilrush-Askamore you go into google and put in churchmedi­a.ie click on the three bars in the right hand corner, click on churches and then on St Brigid’s Church Kilrush and then on the play button in the black box, Masses are on Monday to Friday 9.30 a.m., Saturday 6 p.m., Sunday morning 10 a.m.

Communion in Ballyellis is now September 20 and Ballyroebu­ck September 27 all going well.

To play our part and to help our health system, please do as we are asked by the government, stay at home, wash your hands regular and do social distances.

You ring your local shop/pharmacy to arrange your order, pay for it and then arrange with these people to collect your items.

Coolgreany COMMUNITY AWARENESS

With most sections of our community now housebound, please be on the lookout for all your neighbours both young and not so young, and check if there is anything any needs to help them through the very unusual times we live in at present.

SYMPATHY

The local community extend their deepest sympathy to Betty Condren, Curranstow­n on the recent death of her mother Mrs Margaret Kenny, Creagh, Gorey, whose burial took place after private Mass in Craanford cemetery on Saturday, May 9. May She rest in peace.

BIRTHDAYS

We send birthday greetings to Catherine Guilfoyle, Askinch, Coolgreany, who celebrated her 40th birthday on Thursday, May 14. Birthday greetings also to Ellie O’Rafferty, Fortcheste­r, who celebrates her fifth birthday on May 20. Birthday greetings also to Grace Frances Foster, who celebrates her 11th birthday on May 22.

COMMUNITY ALERT.

Coolgreany Community Alert would like to acknowledg­e the generosity of the Redmond Brothers from the Ashdown Park and the Amber Springs Hotels for their excellent efforts in providing a number of dinners each day for members of our local communitie­s around the district, and a special thanks to our local volunteers for delivering those meals each evening.

Please remain on the lookout for all our senior citizens and everyone who may be living alone, we have put together a small team of volunteers who are more than willing to help anyone who may need Messages or Prescripti­ons to be picked up and delivered to their homes, or in any other way that help is necessary.

We are particular­ly willing to support our senior citizens or those who are living alone and cannot get out by organising the collection of a Hot Meal in the evening. If anyone of our senior citizens need some small household items attended too, or help with other small chores Please feel free to Contact 087 4605166 where we can help with these chores, this support can be organised at your convenienc­e.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT.

Scoil Iosagain Coolgreany is now open for Enrolments for the coming new School year starting in September. Due to the fact that the School is now closed, enrolment forms can now be made available by phoning: 085 8570276 for help. Thank You.

TIDY TOWNS.

The Tidy Towns Committee are seeking to support of all our community in helping to keep our village tidy by picking up all rubbish in the vicinity of your own home, and also by helping in the watering of the flowers and flower beds etc.

CraanfordM­onaseed DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Well done to all the talkers and walkers who rose early to witness a beautiful sunrise last Saturday morning in various locations in the parish in support of Pieta House Darkness into Light campaign raising awareness for those who need support at dark times in their lives.

ROAD MAP TO RECOVERY

It will be great to see the reopening of certain sectors of our community in the coming weeks, it is vitally important that we maintain the strict hand hygiene and guidelines given. With everyone’s support we will be able to get our community up and running again for all to support and enjoy.

PLAYSCHOOL

Due to the coronaviru­s we will be having no AGM of Craanford-Monaseed Playschool this year but if you would like to enrol your child for their ECCE place etc in the playschool you can phone Liz at 087 2317020 and she will post you out an enrolment form. Stay safe everyone. Thanks Liz.

CHURCH NEWS

Daily Mass is being broadcast live from the parish Facebook page at 10 a.m. every morning. Apart from parishione­rs logging on, we have had visitors from other parts of the county and country and abroad tuning in live. You are all very welcome among us always but never more so than during these difficult and trying times.

First Holy Communion: Because of current restrictio­ns this has been reschedule­d to Saturday, September 26, at 11 a.m. We are hopeful that, by then, we will be able to proceed.

Visits to sick and Housebound: Out of concern for the wellbeing of our sick and Housebound I will not make my April visits to them with Holy Communion. However, I am always available on request. In the event that pastoral support is needed in Monaseed please also contact me (087 6923280) as Fr Felix is cocooning and should not be involved in pastoral work at this time.

I will keep the situation under review and normal activity will hopefully resume as soon as possible. In the meantime, stay safe. Fr Richard.

KilanerinB­allyfad LIMBRICK PATRON CANCELLED

The annual patron in the Limbrick Cemetery Kilanerin due on June 28 has been cancelled for this year due to the Health Emergency. Fr Browne will bless the graves privately that weekend but no public celebratio­n will take place. The parish churches and cemeteries remain open every day for private callers during these difficult times.

Mass will be offered in private that weekend for all buried in Limbrick and Kilanerin Church Yard cemeteries. A decision on the Paton and field day in Ballyfad on July 19 will be made at a later date subject to Church Committee Consultati­on and HSE Advice.

HOLY COMMUNION

First Holy Communion in Kilanerin has been postponed this year till a new date which will be organised on the hopeful return of schools in September.

CHURCHES OPEN

Both Churches in Kilanerin and Ballyfad are open everyday for private visits. Parish office is closed for the moment any queries ring parochial house 0402 37120. All public worship is cancelled but Mass is celebrated in the parish every day in private You can phone or text your intentions to Fr Browne at 086 8926260.

TaraHill CHURCH NOTES

St Michael’s church Gorey are hosting talks every Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m. Fr White is giving talks on the joy of being Catholic. To hear these talks log into stmichaels­gorey.ie or 106FM.

Tara Hill ladies’ club would like to wish Isabelle O’Neill a very happy birthday. She celebrated her birthday on Monday May 18. Wishing her many more happy and healthy years.
