Hospital care package appeal a fantastic success

- By BRENDAN KEANE

THE organisers of a care package appeal in County Wexford were overwhelmed by the response they received from the general public and businesses.

One of those involved, Breda Levingstone, said the level of support the initiative received was amazing.

‘On Easter Sunday, Jenna Cullen put a call out to the people of Wexford for donations for care packages for Wexford Hospital,’ said Breda.

The two women then set up an Amazon Wish List that included a wide range of items including: moisturisers, lip balms, heatpacks, etc.

‘ The response was overwhelming and we then decided to expand our, horizons supporting local businesses in the area by having donation stations,’ said Breda.

‘Dealz in Enniscorthy and Wexford both took part, Farrell’s Pharmacy in Enniscorthy and Grants Pharmacy gave a 15 per cent discount to all who donated as well,’ she said. ‘Pettitt’s SuperValu in Enniscorthy had a large donation station also and the response was huge.’

Earlier this month, an ambulance, jeep and car from the Order of Malta arrived at Jenna’s house in Glenbrien where they collected 48 hampers to deliver to all the departments in Wexford General Hospital.

‘As the response has been so good we are continuing collecting donations in Dealz where they are now matching whatever is donated and this will be delivered to other frontline workers in local nursing homes and garda stations, etc,’ said Breda.
