Angel found heaven at Tyrell home after a tough beginning

-

ANGEL the Yorkie was adopted on the June 14 of last year from North Wexford SPCA in Gorey and her owners, Kay and John Tyrell say that if she could talk, this is what she would say about her experience.

‘I was dumped near a busy road not too far from a puppy farm at the start of June last year.

‘I was left all alone on a very dark road with cars coming and going, so I had to survive under hedges living on what I could hunt and find. When I was rescued and sent to North Wexford SPCA, they said I was out about a week on my own.

‘I was given a nice feed and I was warm so I slept I heard them say they would have to wait to see if I was claimed before I could be re-homed but I was terrified I would be sent back. I snapped when I was put in my cage.

‘In my young life I had been kicked so hard they broke one of my ribs, and let it heal itself so it’s now out of line with the rest. Sometimes I scream if picked up as it’s still sore at times. I have scars on my head and neck from bites I got from other dogs. I also had no hair on my ears above my nose from heat lamps, that they put on me so my babies would live to make money.

‘When no one claimed me, sometime later this couple came to see me with their little Yorkie like me but smaller, his name is Buttons he had just lost his lifelong partner Cinders in April. ‘He was heartbroken over her. She was 13 years old and got cancer and he was 12 years old. I loved him on sight and wanted to go home with them.

‘When I seen them, they offered me a belly rub and when the man rubbed me I was in heaven so I knew this was the Family for me.

‘I was told I would have to wait as the vet had to fix it so I could not have any more babies.

‘I am now in my forever home a year on the 14 of this month and I’m very happy I don’t have so many nightmares as I did before. I am still afraid of other dogs so I go for them, but Dad walks me the other way and both Mam and Dad say I will grow out of it when I get more confidant around dogs we will meet.

‘I like to boss Buttons around and steal his toys but Mam tells me off, so I stop as he is old and I am just six years old. Mam and Dad say it is now time for me to be a puppy to play and have fun.

‘ The hair on my ears and the top of my nose is now growing back and Mam gives me cod liver omega oil in dinner every day. I love been cuddled in Dad’s arms I could sit there for hours as well as Mam’s lap at night.

‘I am to thankful everyone in the NWSPCA that do wonderful work looking after us unwanted, and do their utmost to get us a forever home’.
