HARROW CYCLE GROUP

Congratulations to the Harrow Cycle Group, who managed, despite to Covid-19 restrictions to raise much needed funds for Crumlin Hospital. The event has been run every June Bank Holiday since 2001 and has raised over €150,000 since then.

This year it looked as if it would have to be postponed or even cancelled. But Martin Redmond Fitness in Ferns loaned static exercise bikes to the organisers and they ensured that the 70+ participants took part in rotas. Instead of sponsorship cards, they set up a ‘gofundme’ page which is still open for donations.

CHURCH ONLINE

St Cormac’s church is now online at ipcamlive.com/boolavoguechurch and Mass is available on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m. On Wednesday Mass online is at 7 p.m. followed by a preached Holy Hour. Mass on Thursday morning is again at 9.30 a.m. with Mass on Friday morning, which is also at 9.30 a.m. followed by Holy Hour. The Vigil Mass on Saturday is at 8 p.m. and Sunday Mass is at 11 a.m. The camera is live so that you can visit the church ‘virtually’ at any time, from anywhere in the world.

A small problem which saw the camera move shortly after its installation seems to have been rectified. For a while it was broadcasting the dusty back of one of the stations of the Cross on the left of the picture with the ambo in the centre and the altar on the extreme right of the image. However, now it is showing the full sanctuary.

It is hoped that under Phase three of the Roadmap, all churches will be opening for public worship after June 29. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has urged all the faithful to observe and respect the current norms as jumping the queue could set everyone back. The association of Catholic

Priests has stated that an early restart could lead to loss of life and that those pushing for an early reopening were pushing their own selfserving and self-intrested agendas.

GAA WALKING TRACK

The walking track in Monageer reopened last Tueaday, June 9 and is now open each weekday between 10 a.m. and midday. The first hour from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. is reserved for those who have been cocooning. All walkers are asked to walk in a clockwise direction and groups should not contain more than four people. Entry is throught the small gate and hand sanitizers are available there.
