YOUNG PIONEERS

The following young people received their Pioneer Pin from Canon Séamus de Val on Friday, June 24, 2005, Áine Nolan, Phyllis Connors, Theresa Rellis, Sinéad Walsh, Niamh Weston, Carrie Bowes, James Doyle, Matthew Hughes, Bobby Redmond, David Roberts, Richard Breen, Jonathan Thorpe, Declan and Peter, Raleigh, Keith Rowlands, Cathal Kearney, Keith Power, Kevin Waters.

Any Junior Pioneer, who received their pin three years ago and is now 16 years old, who wishes to become full members of the Pioneer Associatio­n, please contact Nellie Long on 77368 or Dan McLean on 77185.

BUNCLODY/KILMYSHALL COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratula­tions and well done to all the boys and girls who took part in the Athletics day finals in Piercersto­wn on Saturday, June 25.

Thirty children from the area travelled to Piercersto­wn for the day. The competitor­s took part in the parade and congratula­tions to Ellen Kelly for running and carrying the torch to light the fife at the start of the athletics.

Also, congratula­tions to Ellen Kelly for reaching the finals of the girls’ under 12 Long Puck.

Well done and thanks to Brian Steemers and Clare Breen for volunteeri­ng to be stewards on the day.

The competitor­s were Emma Tobin (under eight – 60m), Oran Fitzpatric­k (under-eight – 6Om), Shauna Kearney (under-eight – 80m), Cora Steemers (under-10 – 100m), Aisling Donohoe (under-12 – 100m), Marie Nolan (under-12 – 100m), Cailthionn 0 Muiri (under-12 – 100m), Mark Kearney (under-12 – 100m), Orla Donohoe (under-14 – 100m), Rachel Martin (under-14 – 100m), Ellen Kelly (under-14 – 100m), Leanne Kearney (under-14 – 100m), Bemard Steemers (under-14 – 100m), Richard Breen (under-14 – 100m), Martin Steemers (Long Puck), Seán Kenny (long puck), Paudge Kehoe (long puck), Ronan Roberts (long puck). Julie Breen and Helen Crean also took part in the relay.

Well done to all the boys and girls who took part in the relay races.

Congratula­tions and best wishes to Clodagh Carney, who will represent Bunclody in the art in the National Community Games finals in Mosney in August.

As this is the end of the activities in the area, we would like to thank everyone who gave us support and help throughout the year in the running of the Community Games.
