LOCAL BUSINESSES REOPENING

With Covid restrictio­ns being slowly lifted a number of new and existing business are opening their doors. A new café, Gralinn has opened in the main street while Dwyer’s hopes to open shortly. Neville’s Gastro Pub will also be re-opening on July 1 while Baginbun Lodge will reopen on July 2.

From June 29 the Hook Lighthouse, the Lightkeepe­rs Café and the outdoor dining option the Seahorse will all open seven days per week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with last access to the grounds at 4 p.m. and dining closing at 5 p.m. All visitors must pre-book a free grounds access pass at hookherita­ge.ie.

ON THE HOOK MAGAZINE

This year’s edition of the On the Hook magazine is now on sale in Dillon’s shop, Fethard. Edited by Liam Ryan and his team of co-editors it is full of the usual mixture of interestin­g articles and photos. It is a must have item for anyone in the area. Make sure to get your copy before they are sold out.

FETHARD ST MOGUE’S GAA

It looks like the current Covid restrictio­n will be soon be lifted and we will see activity back on the GAA pitches in the near future. Plans are in place for a much shortened adult championsh­ip which will see groups reduced to three team. It is also hoped that the ever popular Cúl Camps will return this year either in late July or early August.

VISIONS OF THE HOOK PENINSULA

Hot on the heels of his involvemen­t in the On the Hook magazine local author, photograph­er and historian Liam Ryan has published 2020 Visions of the Hook Peninsula. Full of many colourful scenes from the Hook Peninsula the book is on sale in Dillon’s shop for €30.

IRISH EXPERIENCE ADVENTURE TOURISM

The Irish Experience adventure tourism based in the main street Fethard-on-Sea started a phased reopening over the Bank Holiday Weekend. ST LOUIS DAY CARE CENTRE

St Louis Day Care Centre are open behind closed doors and are delivering Meals on Wheels and assisting the elderly and vulnerable in our community in any way we can by way of prescripti­on collection­s and deliveries, grocery shopping, advice and informatio­n. FETHARD POST OFFICE

Please note the new opening hours for the post office in Fethard. Open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.
