CHURCH NEWS

MASSES RETURNING – Friday, July 3, is the First Friday of the month and also the First Day of the return of weekday Masses, post Covid 19. Following that initial Mass, the Status Quo returns, with: – Normal Mass Times: Saturday, Vigil 7 p.m., Sundays 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Holydays: Vigil 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. on the day;

Tuesday to Fridays at 9.30 a.m. No Mass on Mondays.

New church rules – (for ‘Our Lady’ Star of the Sea Church, Duncannon) As we prepare to return to a ‘new’ normal, and in keeping with Government regulations, please be mindful of the following.

Holy Water Fonts are not in use. Observe social distancing and remain two meters from other people (except members of the same household). Wash your hands with soap and water before you leave home. Use the hand sanitiser provided as you enter and leave the church.

Follow the one-way system. Only use every second pew starting from the first pew at the back. Feel free to wear a face mask and gloves. Do not touch any statues. Do not shake hands. Cover your mouth if coughing and use a tissue if sneezing.

Do not, under any circumstances, discard any face masks, gloves, tissues etc., in or around the church, cemetery or car parking area.

For reception of Holy Communion stand at a distance from the priest or Eucharistic Minister and extend you hand. Holy Communion will not be distributed at the back of the church.

Thank you to those who have contributed during this lockdown time. Please bring your envelopes up to date, as those who send our bills did not cocoon themselves, I noticed, despite me telling the postman that I want to practice social distancing from all those bills.

NB If you are displaying any cold or flu, or flu-like symptoms, please do not enter the church buildings – contact your local doctor.

PARISH NEWSLETTER – While Masses have been cancelled in Duncannon, the Parish Newsletter is available, as usual, on the table at the back of the church, or online at: duncannonparish.com/ page2.htm.

LOCAL WEBCAM MASS – Tune in to Mass from Ramsgrange, via WebCam, on Facebook, on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings – Vigil at 6 p.m. and Sunday 10.30. The celebrant is Fr Brian Whelan. facebook.com/ RamsgrangeChurch

ANNUAL PATTERN

The annual Pattern, scheduled for Saturday, July 4, will take a different course this year. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Government regulations pertaining thereto, and in order to assist with social-distancing, Fr John will bless the graves two or three days after the scheduled date, so, please ensure that the graves are as clean and tidy as you’d like them to be, by Saturday, July 4.

CEMETERIES

In order to keep our Cemeteries looking their best, visitors are earnestly requested not to discard rubbish in the Cemeteries. Our Cemeteries are sacred resting places and it is our duty to care for and respect these places. Used wreaths, flowers and other unwanted items, when removed from graves, should be brought home with you. Thank you.
