We have many years of experience in the Post Leaving Certificate arena with a very experienced team of dedicated teachers and tutors, a track record of excellent results and successfully graduated students who are now leaders within the community in their chosen fields. All courses include a module of Work Experience and the opportunity for working abroad on our new Erasmus programme. Undertaking a PLC course can offer you the opportunity to try out a field of study before committing to a third-level course or going straight into the workforce. It will enhance your knowledge and experience and give you the confidence to take the next step forward toward a more successful life and career.

Preparation for Third Level

Whether you have decided to defer a place at third level, need a year to save, feel unprepared to progress or are undecided about where to go from here and need guidance, we can offer you direction, certainty and experience. Many of our graduates who have gone on to third level have said that they felt better prepared and more confident when they started their college course compared to students who had gone directly from school. They report that their knowledge and skills in relation to research skills, working independently, meeting deadlines, making presentations and compiling assignments and projects really stood to them at college. Our courses could be just the stepping-stone you need, if you haven’t decided on your third level options.

Return to Education

For some of you, the thought of facing classrooms, teachers and exams may seem daunting. Don’t let your anxiety stop you from improving your confidence and chances of employment. You will be supported by friendly, professional staff, who know and understand your family commitments and they will help you to overcome any fears you may have. Projects and assessments for most subjects take place throughout the year so you take control of your own learning and progression throughout the course. Your final grade does not depend on one exam.

When you have successfully completed your course you will be able to continue with further education, or take up employment. Whatever you choose to do, be assured that the skills and knowledge you have achieved at Selskar College will be of great benefit.

Should you decide to study further after your course it may interest you to know that there are direct links to third level through our Higher Education Links Scheme. You can use your Level 5 award to access a wide range of third level courses at institutions throughout Ireland through the CAO. We also have developed direct links from our courses to Level 7 and Level 8 courses offered at IT Carlow and Waterford IT.
