A young singer-songwriter from Enniscorthy is celebrating after his debut single made it to the top of the Irish iTunes rock charts.
Cameron Allan (16), from Enniscorthy, released the single ‘Letter To You’ on Saturday, June 20, on all major platforms and, within a couple of hours, the song had made it to the No.1 spot in the charts.
Produced by Cameron and Brendan Carthy at Orchard Studios in Enniscorthy the song is a country-tinged, mid-tempo rock track with subtle hints of classic rock acts such as Poison and Bon Jovi.
Significantly, Cameron plays all of the instruments himself with the exception of the drums which were handled by Brendan Carthy who is a formidable engineer as well as one of the country’s foremost drummers.
The song is in essence a love song and boasts an extremely memorable chorus. It has already picked up airplay on radio stations around Ireland but also, crucially, on stations in Nashville, New Zealand, France, Germany and the UK.
Following its release to radio stations the track immediately began to climb the charts, ultimately hitting the top spot.
Cameron is very appreciative of the support he has received from the people of Enniscorthy and said the track is the first of many he plans to release.
‘ This is the first in a line of many numbers I have written and we look forward to getting back into the studio very soon to hopefully create another No 1 hit,’ he said.
Cameron comes from a very creative family, with his parents, Donna Marie Sludds and Michael J Cloke, both very well known and respected in both the music and acting worlds so it’s no surprise that the creative gene is alive and well in Cameron.
While he’s happy that the first single was a success, for the gifted songwriter this is just the beginning.
‘Letter To You’ can be downloaded from all major music platforms including iTunes and Spotify.
