STUDIO 5 IS READY TO GET BACK IN BUSINESS

- By BRENDAN KEANE

FOR Studio 5 hair and beauty salon a lot of work has gone into preparing for this week’s reopening.

Owner Noreen Whelan said the staff will now work in two teams on a one-day-on, one-dayoff, basis.

Obviously, the salon will also be implementing the two metre social distancing rule, with every second chair being used.

There are also sanitisers placed in numerous locations around the salon.

Ms Whelan said clients will now have to make appointments and commented: ‘You will not be able to walk in.’

‘You will also have to be on time for appointments and if we are running behind we will have a waiting area with two chairs in it, two metres apart, and if not clients will have to go back to their cars and we will give them a ring when they can come back in,’ she said.

The salon has eight staff members and the beauty salon staff each have their own separate rooms.

‘We have three basins and the middle one will not be used and will instead be used to implement social distancing,’ said Noreen.

She also said her business was lucky in the sense that no major structural work was required but she did comment that preparing for the reopening in terms of PPE was expensive.

‘We will also only be working on half capacity because there will be 15 minutes between clients to clean down and change gear,’ said Noreen.

‘We are looking forward to being open again and getting back to work,’ she added.

‘You just want to get back to work and helping people feel a little bit better about themselves.’
