Bright beginnings and lots of changes as creches reopen

-

AS CRECHES prepare to reopen this week, one operator in Oylegate has outlined the various changes that had to be implemented before opening up the doors again.

Laura Farrell from the Bright Beginnings creche said that a pod system has been introduced which means the children will be in different rooms and there will be no interaction between the children in the opposite rooms.

‘It was a big challenge and the staff have to stay with the children in their respective rooms so that meant we had to take on more staff,’ she said.

Soft furnishings in the creche had to be replaced by furnishings that can be sanitised regularly.

‘Parents won’t be able to come into the creche anymore either,’ said Laura.

While the children will not be able to mix with the children in the other room, they will be able to mingle with those who are in their own room and Laura said that should bring them ‘some sense of normality’.

With regard to numbers she said there was a slight reduction in the numbers for the summer but the figures for September are good.

‘We have another creche in Castlebridge but it’s not as easy over there so that one is closed until September,’ said Laura.
