Theft was ‘under-hand and mean’

-

UNDER-HANDED and mean that was the verdict of his own solicitor on the actions of a 52-year-old man who stole a drill from a garage in Templescoby.

The prosecution of Noel Keeley from 4 Knocknagross, Bree, followed the theft which occurred one evening while the house owner was asleep.

The CCTV, however, was not snoozing and the camera picked out Keeley as the culprit who entered the premises and then cycled off.

The two men were known to each other, the District Court was told.

It was also stated that Keeley lived a solitary life, and that his main interests were gardening and cycling.

Judge Brian O’Shea decided to adjourn the case until December to allow the unemployed defendant come up with a sum of €300 in compensation.

Once he pays up on time, he will have the benefit of the Probation Act.
