Boglane petition

-

A petition has been set up in Boolavogue to have the ‘ bog lane’ tarred from Tobar Gael to Ballytracey.

A lot of work has taken place to get rid of weeds and growth from the ruins of ‘Shorehole’ Jack Murphy’s house, which has changed little since when it was a residence during 1798.

The roof blew off during the big storm of 1839 and the house’s last resident emigrated to England 50 years ago.

Unfortunately, the cottage feel into neglect in the interim, however, locals are determined to make the cottage a feature piece on a ramble down the bog lane.

Everyone in the community is encouraged to sign the local petition and to also lobby their local councillors about the matter.
