New Mass schedule

-

Since Monday, June 29, St Aidan’s Parish has resumed public Masses. Before the lockdown, the numbers participating in daily Mass in the Cathedral was about 50-60, so accommodating those who came back was not a problem. However, a challenge comes with Sunday Mass as St Aidan’s expects more than 50 people to come to the Cathedral for each of the three weekend Masses. With that in view, the priests want to do their utmost to ensure that anyone who wants to come to Mass in the Cathedral on Sundays can do so.

Therefore, they have added to the number of weekend Masses. On Saturday evening, there will be two vigil Masses at 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. On Sunday there will be three Masses: at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Please note that this is a temporary adjustment to the Mass schedule and will be reviewed as things develop.

St Aidan’s thanks everyone for their co-operation in these extraordinary times. It also encourages anyone who is unwell or who has an underlying condition or who is displaying any symptoms not to attend public Mass.

For those who do attend, the following four steps must be complied with: please wear a mask. Please use hand sanitiser provided as you enter the Cathedral. Please sit alone or with members of your household. Please maintain proper social distancing. At each Mass, clear instruction will be given as to other requirements during the liturgy. This process will require a great deal of patience, understanding and willingness to comply with. On behalf of everyone, the priests thank you in advance for this.

With regards to Anniversary Masses and other bookings, St Aidan’s has asked parishioners not to worry about trying to attend a specific Mass over the next number of weekends as all intentions will be prayed for at all Masses.

The priests note that the past three months have been difficult for the church community and for the whole country and thank everyone for their ongoing commitment to the faith as they gather once again in prayer, hope and gratitude.
