MODEL COUNTY DRAW

Model County Developmen­t Draw tickets for the final two draws, which will both take place on the same night at the end of October, are available from committee members. It’s €30 for both draws.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED.

An ongoing need for Meals on Wheels was identified in the Bunclody/Kilmyshall and Clohamon/Kilrush areas during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Hot meals are still delivered three days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to those who require them. If you can volunteer for an hour at lunchtime, once a week or once a fortnight to help on an ongoing basis please contact James Doyle at 087 9594639 or Barbara-Anne Murphy at 087 6736966.

If you know anyone who would like to avail of the meal delivery service, please contact either James or Barbara-Anne at the above numbers. There is a charge of €5 per meal delivered, which covers the cost of the food. Delivery is covered on a volunteer basis.

BUNCLODY PARISH OFFICE

Bunclody parish office opening hours: Monday: closed. Tuesday: 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m/Wednesday: 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m./Thursday: Closed. Friday 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The office will closed for lunch from 1 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The change in opening days has occurred due to having only one secretary in the parish office.

BUNCLODY STREET MARKET

The Mall Market, weather permitting, we will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stall holders forward to meeting their loyal customers, friends, tourists and visitors to Bunclody and hope they will enjoy visiting the Market on Market Square.

Stall holders will be keeping up to date with Covid-19 informatio­n and advice so customers’ family and friends will be protected.

WALKING TRACK

Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club’s Walking track is open. Users are asked to please adhere to social distancing and to be compliant with Government guidelines and respectful to the safety of other members using the club’s facilities.

BUNCLODY VOCATIONAL COLLEGE SPLIT-THE-POT

The next Bunclody Vocational College’s split-the-pot draw will take place on Thursday, November 5.

Envelopes are available in Bunclody Credit Union, Bunclody VC, Eurospar, Ken Rothwell, O’Reillys SuperValu and Steemers Newsagents.

USED CLOTHES COLLECTION

A used clothes collection takes place in the school on Tuesday, November 24, Items accepted: clothes, shoes, bags, belts, curtains etc. Items not accepted: pillows or duvets. Half-filled bags can be brought to our PLC building between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. Last day for acceptance is November 18 Your support will be gratefully appreciate­d.

KILMYSHALL PARISH RAFFLE

Due to Covid-19, the Kilmyshall annual parish field day was unable to take place. However, it has been decided to run a Parish Raffle in order to bring in much-needed funds for the parish. Tickets have been delivered over the last few weeks to homes with an explanator­y letter. We hope that you will support our Parish Raffle as generously as you have in the past.

Tickets may be returned to Kilmyshall parish office or Parochial House or to your area representa­tive. It is hoped that the draw will take place on Friday, October 30, in Kilmyshall Community Hall.

KILMYSHALL SPLIT-THE-POT

Kilmyshall Split- the-Pot envelopes are available from Halfway House shop, Steemers, Cahill’s, Glanbia, Byrnes Hardware, Lr. Ryland, Kilmyshall parish office and D & M Laundrette.

COVID-19 SUPPORT LINE

ALONE has launched a national support line and additional supports for older people who have Concerns, or are facing difficulti­es relating to the outbreak of Covid-19. Profession­al staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassuranc­e where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., by calling 0818 222 024.

BUNCLODY DAY CARE SERVICES

Due to Covid-19, Bunclody Day Care remains closed and is not opening for Monday Club or Tuesday and Thursday day care services. We apologise for this inconvenie­nce and will update on reopening as soon as possible.

BAGENALSTO­WN BOOK

A new book titled ‘Bagenalsto­wn: A Step Back in Time’ by Myles Kavanagh is now available on bookshops in County Carlow.

The customary event of holding a book launch is not possible during the current Covid-19 period. Maurice Manning, Chancellor at UCD and native of Bagenalsto­wn, had planned to do the official launch of Bagenalsto­wn ‘A Step Back in Time’ in the town. However, the book will be launched and go on sale in normal outlets in the town and county on Tuesday, October 13. The book will make for an interestin­g read and present for Christmas 2020.

BUNCLODY LIBRARY

Contact and Collect at Bunclody Library is now in operation at Bunclody Library. You may reserve specific titles online using the Library’s regular online ordering system. You can search the online catalogue for specific titles or authors. The library staff will contact you when the books are available for collection. Alternativ­ely, you can contact the library at 053 9375466 or email bunclodyli­b@wexfordcoc­o.ie and place your order.

The library has a wonderful selection of titles available adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction titles from all genres. Or if you would like library staff to choose a selection of books for you, they will be more than happy to do so.

No booking is needed to collect items and usual Library opening hours will apply.

KILMYSHALL NATIONAL SCHOOL

Kilmyshall National School is having a clothes collection on Thursday, November 12.

Bags of old clothes, shoes, curtains and blankets can be left at the school from Monday, November 9, up to and including the morning of November 12.
