Woman found with drugs to make €300 donation

-

A CASE against a woman from Ferns charged with a drugs related offence was adjourned when it went before last week’s sitting of Gorey District Court for a Probation Report to be compiled.

Zaneta Tyrawa, 31 Castle Manor, Ferns, appeared before Judge John Cheatle charged with possession of cannabis at Milehouse Road, Enniscorthy, on October 17, 2019.

Garda David Shannon gave evidence in the case and said that he carried out a search at the defendant’s address on the date mentioned and that during the course of that search a quantity of cannabis herb was found.

The court heard the defendant admitted at the Garda Station the drugs, valued at €300, were for sale of supply.

The garda also informed the court that on

March 3, this year, the defendant was found to be in possession of €50 of cannabis for her own personal use.

The defendant’s solicitor told the judge that the accused had brought €300 to court with her.

‘She is a sales assistant and is living with her partner, who is outside,’ said the solicitor.

The court heard the defendant accepted the problems caused by drugs in society.

‘She is originally from Poland but has been in Ireland for a number of years,’ said the solicitor.

Judge Cheatle decided to put the matter back for six months, until April 21, next year.

He said that if the defendant doesn’t come to the adverse attention of the gardai in the interim and if she makes a donation of €300 to the Cornmarket Project, he will apply the Probation Act.
