BEREAVEMEN­TS

The sympathy of the community is extended to the Ormonde family, Castlellis, The Ballagh on the death of Kathleen (née Parker) on October 10 in Castlebrid­ge Manor Nursing Home. The late Mrs Ormonde is mourned and will be sadly missed by her husband Jim, sons Noel, James, David and John, daughters Elizabeth, Cathríona, and Jacinta, sister Lizzie Dempsey, her 14 grand-children, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kathleen was predecease­d by

her son Richard, brothers Oady and Aidan, sisters Maggie, Mary and Anne. Private family funeral took place on Monday, October 12, at St John the Baptist Church, The Ballagh, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Solas na bhFlaithea­s dá hanam dílis.

Sincere condolence­s also to Yvonne Hendley, The Ballagh on the sudden and untimely death of her partner, Stephen Flood, Plunketsto­wn, Castlederm­ot, Co. Kildare, on October 10. The late Mr Flood is also mourned by his mother Anne, son Neale, brothers, sisters, extended family and many friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

CLOTHING COLLECTION

‘Cash for Clobber’ in aid of Scoil Mochua will take place on Tuesday, October 20. The parents’ associatio­n is asking that you bring your unwanted clothes, paired shoes, ties, belts, bags, hats, scarves, curtains and bed linen to the school on the morning of October 20 so as to generate funds for the local primary school. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d and your unwanted gear could assist the school to win €1,500.

SCHOOLS

Congratula­tions and well done to teachers, other members of staff, pupils and their parents, board of management and parents’ associatio­ns of the schools in the parish on their ongoing efforts during the Covid-19 crisis to continue to keep the schools operationa­l in spite of all the additional challenges facing them every day.

The same applies to the many teachers from the parish who are employed in various primary and secondary schools who are also burdened with many other duties and responsibi­lities besides delivering the curriculum and preparing their charges for the future. Keep up the good work.

CAMOGIE CLUB CHAMPIONSH­IP

Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team that won the county championsh­ip a few weeks ago will represent Wexford in the semi-final of the Leinster Club championsh­ip on January 24,

2021. The match will be played at a Dublin venue and their opponents will be the Dublin champions, St Jude’s. The winners will contest the Leinster final against the Kilkenny champions, Thomastown.
