GLYNNBARNTOWN
BARNTOWN COMMUNITY CENTRE
Last week, the redevelopment of Barntown Community Centre began. This redevelopment was made possible thanks to funding by way of a grant from the town and Village Renewal Scheme (Department of community and Rural Development), Wexford County Council, Sport Ireland and last but not least, donations from our community and Businesses.
Without this financial support, the project would not have gone ahead. Our hard working Community Centre committee also wishes to thank and to acknowledge the support of Cllr Garry Laffan, Cllr George Lawlor, Cllr John Hegarty, TD Paul Kehoe and Tony Dempsey.
PLAYGROUND AT COMMUNITY CENTRE
A reminder to all who use our playground – Covid 19 is still around us. Children must be supervised by an adult and ensure two metre distancing. Hand sanitiser should be used before and after using equipment – if you can’t sanitise, please do not enter. Children should avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Ensure the safe use of the equipment and the safety of all others. Adhere to the most up to date health advice. Thank you for your co-operation.
BARNTOWN SQUASH CLUB
As a result of the redevelopment of Barntown Community Centre, the Squash Court closed on Friday, October 16, and because the power will be switched off, unfortunately Squash cannot
be played for the duration of the works which is expected to take about six months.
During this period Enniscorthy Squash Club have kindly invited all our members to continue for a reduced membership fee of €40 or €80 for a full year. Please contact Jim Hillis or Ciaran Whelan, should you wish to play. We would like to wish the community centre the very best of luck and a speedy conclusion to this development.
WAVE OF LIGHT
In honour of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rememberance Day, Féileacáin organised many buildings around Ireland to show support by lighting up ‘blue’ or ‘pink’. The Three Rocks 1798 Monument was awash with colour on October 15, supporting International Wave of Light. Thank you Barntown Heritage Group.
