Getting ready for the 25th Hospice barbecue

-

BELIEVE it or not, but the North Wexford Hospice Nursing Trust annual barbecue is 25 years old, and this year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 11, in The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey.

As they celebrate their silver anniversary, the organisers of the annual big night out hope to go all out and make this year’s barbecue one to remember.

The North Wexford Hospice Nursing Trust is one of the five fundraising groups that make up County Wexford Hospice Homecare. For the past 25 years, the Hospice team has provided specially trained nurses, who along with families, general practitioners, and public health nurses, look after people who are seriously or terminally ill, in their own homes for as long as is possible,

The funds raised from events such as the annual barbecue go a long way towards keeping this invaluable service running.

Tickets are selling fast for the barbecue. Ticket holders will enjoy a sizzling steak supper, supplied by Slaney Meats, together with tasty vegetables, supplied by Cullen’s of Aske, and sumptuous desserts supplied by Stafford’s Bakery.

Food will be served from 9 p.m., and music on the evening will be provided by Spraoí, followed by dancing to Breakaway. Tickets at €25 are available from James Tomkins Suzuki Motors, the Monument, Gorey, on 086 2604097, or from Betty Shortall on 087 2805300, or Michael O’Doherty on 053 9421303.
