Hard questions facing ten Mr and Mrs couples

- By FINTAN LAMBE

IT promises to be a revealing and hilarious evening, as couples face the tough questions in the classic gameshow Mr and Mrs. Ten brave couples have volunteered to go under the spotlight to raise funds for a very good cause.

The Mr and Mrs night, to raise funds for a multi-sensory garden room at the St Aidan’s Centre in Camolin, takes place at The Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, this Friday, June 10. Doors open at 7.30 p.m.

The fundraiser is being organised by the Camolin staff to build the multi-sensory room in the multi-sensory garden in Camolin.

The Camolin outreach centre provides a day service for adults from the community and from the St Aidan’s residential homes. It aims to provide a safe and stimulating environment for the service users, many of whom are on the autistic spectrum. Research has shown that multi-sensory stimulation is very therapeutic.

The service users love the beautiful multi-sensory garden at the rear of the Camolin centre, but unfortunately it’s not always possible to use it when the weather is poor. The staff and service users take great pride in the garden and work together to maintain and improve it. The garden offers visual and olfactory stimulation, and a peaceful and tranquil environment in which to relax and spend reflective time

The multi-sensory garden room will offer them the chance to access the garden regardless of the climate. The room will also facilitate sensory activities such as music therapy, arts and crafts and reflective time. They say provision of this room will greatly enhance the quality of life of all those who attend the day service.

The couples taking to the stage are: Conor and Cathy Carton; Joe and Maura Kelly; John and Mary Rossiter; Joe and Catriona Dixon; Sean and Andrea Davitt; Ray Dunne and Gemma Doyle; Pat and Martina Whelan; Colm Reddy and Ann Parker; Sean and Ann McGlade; and Emmet and Helen Doyle. St. Aidan’s Services are very grateful to all the couples for agreeing to take part and wish them all the best of luck.

Tickets at €10, are available at St. Aidan’s Services in Millands or from any of the participating couples. This is a strictly over 18’s event.
