SPLIT THE POT

On May 27 the prize of €294 was won by Molly Kavanagh of Ballyfad, a regular at the bingo. Congratulations Molly. The co-ordinating team for Friday, June 10, is Team 1: Miriam Doyle, Ann Curran and Mairead Bass.

Split the Pot has now been in operation for 15 weeks and we want to thank the 24 team members who, on a rota basis, organise the weekly draw at the Bingo. This is a wonderful example of co-operation and ensures that no one is unduly burdened. Many hands make light work. Thanks also to the venues which host our collection points: The Bingo in Craanford Community Centre, Doyle’s Gala Shop and Cooney’s Pub. All are all functioning very well and the support of these venues is greatly appreciated.

50% of the money received goes out in prizes. The remaining 50% has already added up to €4,517. This is a phenomenal result. Sincere thanks to all who have co-operated to bring about this success. It is having a very beneficial affect on the parish finances. Let us resolve to keep up the good work. The contributions via all collection points are recorded.

In relation to St Patrick’s School we decided to use the Split the Pot as an opportunity for parents to make a contribution to the Underpass. So far €863 profit has come in through the school in 13 weeks of contributions (there were two weeks of mid term break when no contributions came in). Therefore the average weekly profit via the school is €66. The total profit via the school will be donated to the Underpass Committee before the Christmas holidays.

We want to invite parents of children in the school to continue to use this means of supporting the Underpass. Some parents have suggested that it would be helpful to have the opportunity to continue contributing during the summer months when the school is closed. This can be done very simply by writing SCHOOL on the envelope and returning it via GALA. All support is very welcome.

Funds raised go towards extracurricular activities for our students including equestrian and rugby teams, study skills seminars, concert band, young scientist projects, foreign language exchanges to name but a few. The cost per team is €200 including entry fee and meal. Online timesheet is now open.
