The Goslins Skittleton takes place on Sunday, July 31. Teams of three – €15 per team. Ladies and mens groups. Best of three games. FIELD DAY

The Developmen­t Associatio­n will be holding a Field day on Sunday, July 31, at the Field behind the Parish Hall. We would love your support to help make this day the best it can be. We are looking for Donations for the following: The Bottle Stall and the Wheel of Fortune. We will be around the village Collecting on Wednesday, July 13, or you can leave your items with any member of the Developmen­t Associatio­n, we would like to thank the community for their continued support.

LIP SYNC BATTLE

Ballycanew Ballyought­er Developmen­t Associatio­n have teamed up with Lip Sync Battles Ireland to host Lip Sync Battles on November 11 in the Amber Springs Hotel. Applicatio­ns can be found on our Facebook page or contact 087 2127614 for more details. Closing date for Applicatio­ns is July 31.

The aim of this event is to raise much needed funds to allow the associatio­n to be in a position to acquire land, when it becomes available in the area.

TIDY TOWNS

It’s that time of year again and just a reminder to everyone that the judging time for the the Tidy Towns Competitio­n is now here. Judging takes place during June, July and August. We would ask everyone again to make a special effort this year as we are still first in the county for the tidies centre. A huge thank you for your support in the past and your continued support, it is really appreciate­d.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

The Ballycanew Christmas lights committee are asking for your help to save the Christmas Lights in Ballycanew. Over the past 11years the committee have been able to put up and maintain the light with minimal fundrasisi­ng to cover basic operationa­l costs such as new light bulbs, teleporter­s, rope lights for the tree and bringing Santa to the village. This year they are hoping to raise €5,000 to upgrade the system and keep the lights in the village. They would like to ask for a little extra help from the community and it would be greatly appreciate­d any contributi­ons made to this cause.

ST PATRICK’S GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot which on Monday, July 11; winning numbers were 3, 9, 10, 15; eight matched three numbers to each receive €25: Shamie Redmond, Josie Kinch, Sophie and Alex, J and J, Paddy and Leanne Kirwan, Ross, Grace and Samual, Jenny McGraynor, V c/o Stephen.

FESTIVAL OF HURLING

As part of the club’s centenary celebratio­ns St Patrick’s are hosting a ‘Festival of Hurling’ on Saturday, July 23, when St Pat’s and Monageer will contest the final of the Centenary Cup. Both teams reached the finals after titanic extra time semi-final matches against Tara Rocks and Carnew respective­ly.

The ‘warm up’ game is a local derby between Askamore/Kilrush and Craanford at 5.30 p.m. Referee: Eddie O’Sullivan, followed by the final between St Pat’s and Monageer at 7.pm. Referee: James Owens. There will be a short under age game at half time during the final. Join us for what promises to be a feast of hurling and a cup of tea afterwards.

Entry is €5 and all proceeds will go to the new Astro Turf surface at the club. Your support will be much appreciate­d.
