Superintendent Liam takes up a new posting

-

ENNISCORTHY and Gorey will be without a garda superintendent from next week.

Superintendent Liam White who only moved to the Enniscorthy district some 18 months ago is moving back to garda headquarters in the Phoenix Park to work in the finance section.

Superintendent White, pictured below, had moved to Enniscorthy from this same department.

The Enniscorthy and Gorey districts currently come under the remit of Superintendent White and it is anticipated that once he transfers back to Dublin that Inspector Pat Cody and Inspector Sean Clince will manage the districts between them until a new superintendent is appointed.

Retired garda Cllr Joe Sullivan said Superintendent White shouldn’t be allowed to move until his replacement is appointed.

‘I’m calling on Deputy Paul Kehoe and Deputy Michael D’Arcy to immediately meet with the Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald’ and ensure that Superintendent White be replaced before he is allowed to take up his position.

‘It is unbelievable that he would be allowed to transfer from the area on August 4 without a new superintendent being appointed to the district especially when you consider that the Gorey and Enniscorthy garda districts cover around half the county.

‘ This appears to be a further downgrading of the policing service in North Wexford by garda management at divisional, regional and national level.

‘From a policing point of view, without a superintendent in situ the people of Enniscorthy and North Wexford are not getting the same level of service.’
