Paul’s coffee morning fundraiser raises €660

-

THERE WAS a fantastic show of support at a recent coffee morning in aid of local teenager Paul Teal.

Paul from Monamolin held the coffee morning in the Loch Garman Arms to raise money for Project Trust.

Paul is one of a number of young people who have been selected to volunteer in South Africa with Project Trust in the coming months.

Project Trust has almost 50 years of experience providing gap year opportunities for 17- to 19-year-old school leavers.

Paul and his parents Eilis and Laurence were thrilled with the success of the coffee morning and Paul raised €660 for the project.

He thanked everyone who supported him on the day and said he is honoured to take part in the project.

‘I have been offered the opportunity to spend a year in South Africa doing volunteer work. I am in my last year at school and college is on the horizon but I am not sure of what I eventually want to do.

‘I see this as a chance not only to work with less privileged people but to gain considerable life experience with other cultures and to find a path towards a future career.

‘I will be working with Project Trust, an organisation that has been helping others since 1967. Their work involves social work, youth and community development and teaching among other things. As part of my stay in Africa I expect to be working with disadvantaged children, families and orphans.’
