Sawdocs for Spiegel tent

AND CORNER BOY ARE SET TO BE JOINED BY HERMITAGE GREEN IN THE ROUND

-

ONE of the nation’s best loved (and longest running) acts, plus some local heroes, have been added to the bill for the fifth Wexford Spiegeltent Festival.

Galway’s finest The Saw Doctors, back on the road after a three-year break from touring, will play their first comeback gig on the October Bank Holiday weekend in the salubrious surroundings of the Paradiso Spiegeltent on Wexford Quayfront.

And, in another boost to an already packed line-up, top Wexford outfit Corner Boy will be joined by Hermitage Green for a show in the round at the Spiegeltent on Wednesday, October 19.

The Saw Doctors, who achieved their first big break in the eighties when asked by Mike Scott to tour with the Waterboys, have had a stellar career, scoring a string of hits, including classic number one ‘I Useta Lover’. With a new album on the way in the autumn, and a legion of devoted fans round these parts, their Spiegeltent appearance on Saturday, October 29, is sure to be a top attraction. They last played Wexford in a sellout show at the Spiegeltent back in 2012.

Corner Boy always attract a big audience on home turf, and the Spiegeltent gig with Hermitage Green will surely be no different. They arrive at the Wexford festival fresh from appearances at some of the biggest festivals in the country where crowds have enjoyed what Hot Press called ‘ hand clapping, foot stomping stuff with more rousing choruses than a pub full of ballad singers’.

They’ll be joined in the Spiegeltent by Hermitage Green, whose debut album ‘Save Your Soul’ was released by Sony Music Ireland in March and reached 3 in the charts.

So far this year, they’ve played alongside the likes of Gavin James, Josh Ritter, Walking On Cars, and The Pogues, and appeared at a string of festivals.

The 2016 Spiegeltent Festival runs for 17 days and nights, from Friday, October 14 to Bank Holiday Monday, October 31, featuring a diverse array of top acts, including Paul Young, Christy Moore, Mike Denver, Mick Flannery, The Bootleg Beatles, Little Green Cars, Ralph McTell, Something Happens supported by The 4 Of Us, and more.

Corner Boy and Hermitage Green are onstage from 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, while The Saw Doctors appear at 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. Tickets are €25 for each show.
