Hot favourite Jack continues to shine

-

THE SEMI-FINALS of the Summer Unraced Stake were held at Enniscorthy Dog Track on Monday night, and hot favourite Whoops Jack continued to impress when taking the second.

Getting out well from his trap four box, he led up to the bend and was always in command while Milland Sivola kept him very honest with a persistent challenge to be only two lengths away at the line in a fast 28.84.

The other semi saw Pinewood Barney get to the bend in front and have little bother after that, scoring his first win in 29.29.

This week’s final sees all the main protagonists drawn well, with Jack the likely to start favourite to maintain his unbeaten run.

Race eight saw old favourite Vaze Te continue his great run of form when recording his 22nd race win, tracking leader Shaneshill to the lower bends before coming on to score in 29.27.

Thursday night’s card featured race six, the Derby Trial Stake, to decide who will represent Enniscorthy track, and the in-form bitch Stripes Mary proved too good for the strong-finishing Station Panther to book her ticket to Shelbourne next month.

Good Ability set the early pace with Stripes coming to challenge between the last two bends to take up the running.

She had to battle and pull out all the stops in the end to hold the runner-up, with Good Ability a close-up third.

Race five, the Track Sweet Shop A5 bitch final, saw Bluestormrising get a good break from her trap three box and run on well to hold the finishing Misterin Zippy to record her sixth race win.

The Oceanfeed Greyhound+ A4 Stake also got under way with all six first round heats being run, and quickest run of the first round went to Cill Dubh Cody who missed all the trouble to score a good victory in heat four in 29.12.
