Following the great success of last year’s event, Carnew Musical Society will again host Stars in their Eyes in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew on Saturday, September 17. like Local Clubs and Groups in the area are again welcome to enter a contestant or contestant­s. GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the lottery last week. The numbers were 8, 15, 18 and 32. The next draw will take place tonight Tuesday, August 2, in Coleman’s Tombrack for a jackpot of €11,500. To be in with a chance of winning this week’s jackpot, just do the lotto. Tickets are available in Codd’s, Sinnott’s, Bunclody, Jim Byrnes, Carnew, Coleman’s Tombrack, or from any of the players or committee members.

GAA SUMMER FUN DAY

A Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday, August 21, in the club grounds in Ballyroebu­ck. There will be many attraction­s on the day including: Bottle Stall, Wheel of Fortune, Cake stall Plant stall and many more attraction­s on the day, An underage tournament will take place on the day along with Adult tournament match in the evening, Also Our 1976 hurling team will be honoured on the Day. Admission: €2, children free.

The mobile library will visit Ballyduff school car park on Thursday, July 28. It will not visit again till the school reopens.

CLONEE LADIES’ FOOTBALL

MONDAY MEETINGS

Ballyduff Developmen­t Group meet in the school car park on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. to work on our local area. If you can help in any way or have any ideas on how to add interest to our area please come along any evening that the group is gathering. We’re always delighted to see new faces. Intermedia­tes and junior B hurlers deliver double whammies to Askamore. – The Junior B’s got the ball rolling on Friday evening when they hurled brilliantl­y to cause Askamore many problems on the field. They ran out easy winners C/F 7-14 A/M 1-12.

Goals win matches and three goals saw the Intermedia­te hurlers apply sustained pressure to conquer their rivals Askamore in the centenary cup curtain raiser held in Camolin last weekend C/F 3-09 A/M – 15. Well done everyone.

The intermedia­te hurlers resume their championsh­ip campaign when they face Oylegate-Glenbrien on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Patrick’s Park and will play Kilanerin in football on Sunday week August 7 in Monamolin at 12.30 p.m.

Well done to the under-14 camogie girls on levelling the match in the dying seconds against Buffers Alley during the week, this was a play off and both sides now have to meet again Sunday at 11 a.m. in Riverchape­l to determine who progresses to semi-final placing. Well done girls.

Bann Gaels played football against Shamrocks at home and won out on a score line B/G 2-15 Sh’rocks 1-07. Under-14 hurlers and a great win over Liam Mellows C/F 3-13 L/M 1-04. under-14 hurlers played Rapps. The minor hurlers Castle Craan Gaels beat Macamore Gaels 6-15 to 2-09. under-16 camogie girls hosted Rathnure and despite a good game lost out to an impressive Rathnure side.

CRAANFORD PATRON

Preparatio­ns are continuing for the upcoming Patron on Sunday, August 7. Mass will be celebrated in the church at 3 p.m. and this will be followed by Rosary and blessing of the graves in the Cemetery. The usual collection to support the upkeep of the cemetery will be taken up as you enter. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

It has been the practise in this parish to remember loved ones by name in the Patron Mass. Should you wish your loved ones mentioned in this way you may give in their names during the week. Envelopes to facilitate this are available at the back of the church and may be returned at any time during the coming week or via the Envelope Box next Sunday.

FLOWER FESTIVAL

KILANERIN HALL

The committee are delighted to let you know one of the tables has been returned so if everybody who borrowed tables from the hall over the past few months could have a little look in the garage maybne just maybe its there.
