PATRON AND FIELD DAY

Kiltealy annual patron and field day will take place on Sunday next, August 7, beginning with prayers in the old cemetery at 1 p.m. Patron Mass will be at 1.30 p.m. in the new cemetery. Ballindagg­in Pipe Band will then lead the attendance to the field.

There will be something for everyone with lots of attraction­s including Bottle stall, produce stall, wheel-O-fortune, roulette, bingo, sand bags, skittles, fishing, bouncy castle, guess weight of lamb, guess the score of match, milking cow, boat ride, children’s sports, duck racing, Shop, teas, sandwiches, refreshmen­ts and ice cream all on field.

Parish raffle tickets are now on sale throughout the parish €2 each or book of 3 €5 with some valuable prizes up for grabs, 1st prize weekend for two in Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. 2nd prize €200 oil voucher (Mr. Oil). 3rd €100 . 4th €50, 6th brandy, 7th whiskey, 8th wine. Draw will take place in the Hall in the evening.

Bottles for bottle stall can be left in local shops. New volunteers to help on the day most welcome. To end what promises to be a great day out there will be a social and tea in the Community Hall on the patron night August 7 with music by T-Bone Country.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Club had another enjoyable day out on Thursday last, July 28, when they visited the south west area of Wexford taking in Bannow, Saltmills, Tintern Abbey and Duncannon beach and ended the day with a lovely dinner in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboo­la. The club meet every Wednesday in Kiltealy Community Hall. New members always welcome.

ALL IRELAND CHAMPION

Congratula­tions to Seán Cushen, Kiltealy who was a member of the Irish under-16 sea angling team who won gold for Ireland in the Home Nations competitio­ns in Norfolk, England recently. A great achievemen­t for Seán and his team mates who received a big welcome home with their gold medals.

Sean’s sister Breda is also big into sporting competitio­ns, she is a member of the Wexford girls soccer team who had their play off in the Gaynor cup in Limerick recently. We wish Breda and her team mates well in the competitio­n. Breda is also a member of the local Baile Dubh Tire under-14 squad who won their quarter final recently. Best of luck in the semi-final.

CYCLING CHAMPION

On Saturday, July 23, Fionn Jordan, Cloroguebe­g, Kiltealy had one of the best results of his cycling career to date when he became the County Wexford junior cycling champion in a combined race with the best senior riders in the county. Fionn finished just one pace off the senior podium in fourth place to claim the coveted Redmond Electric Cup and the county junior title. This is a great confidence boost ahead of the all-Ireland junior championsh­ip being held in Mayo on August 14. Congratula­tions Fionn and good luck on August 14.

WEDDING

The annual Rathnure GAA golf classic is on September 2 in Enniscorth­y. Teams of 4: €200. Prizes for GUI and amateur. Holes can be sponsored by businesses and individual­s not playing from €50. Tee times have been released so get in early. Further details from Richie Flynn: 087 2831798.

GAA CLUB LOTTO

Numbers drawn last Tuesday night were 4, 6, 18 and 21. No jackpot winner.

The jackpot this week is €6,600.

KILLANNE SPLIT THE POT

The winner of the Split-thePot draw held on July 21 was Mick O’Leary, Rathnure who won €105. The next draw will take place in the Top Place, Ballywilli­am on Thursday, August 4. Thanks to all for your continued support.
