THANK YOU

The Castletown Parish Council would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who played any part in making our annual field day/Funday such a huge success yesterday.

To our volunteers who somehow manage to turn up every year to and give of their time and energy – from gate stewards, MC, planners, providers etc; To those who work in the weeks and days before hand to plan and organise the event; To all those who create and donate the most mouth watering home bakes and produce that just fly out the door every single year;

To every person who ‘manages a hospitality stand’ for us on the day, whether it was cooking delicious teas, home-made burgers, strawberries and cream, crepes or ice – creams; To every volunteer that goes out of their way each year, to help our community event, giving of your time, looking after an event and making our day fun; To all sellers of tickets for our numerous raffles, many doing it for many years;.

To our Dog Show Judge, Shane McGuckin of the Veterinary Hospital, Gorey, who is so generous of his time each year to come along and judge all the four legged beauties; To Castletown National School for use of their premises; To our many loyal and generous sponsors (full list will be posted here later) without whose support we could not field this event; Finally to each of you, every person who came along, brought friends and family, and helped us raise much needed funds for our parish Community – thank you.

I hope I have not neglected to include anyone, but its very simple, we are grateful for any and all help received.

The following are the prize winners of the various raffles: split-the-pot – Mary Byrne, Cloneranny. Cake – Willie Kinch and a voucher in the same raffle was won by jack Duffy. Count the Lollies – Deirdre Jordan guessed correctly at 87. Hampers sponsored by Londis Inch and Siopa Linn were won by Lucy Kavanagh and Irene Condren. Marlfield House Vouchers for Tea for Two were won by Mairead O’Doherty and Fr John Hayes.

In the Main Draw, the prizes went as follows: €500 – Catherine Bergin, Clone. Bike, sponsored by Frank Kinsella – Patrick Clune. Oil to the value of €200, sponsored by Halnon’s – Joe Bergin, Ahare. €50 voucher, sponsored by Halpin Furniture – Frances Redmond. We hope to have a full list of all funds raised on the church notice board by the end of this week.

We would like to say a huge, huge THANK YOU to all of those members of our Council who have taken a little step back in the last few years, but have been on hand to ‘train in’ new hands. It’s always dangerous when you start to name individuals but the ‘Two Marys’ – Mary Kenny and Mary Byrne are known the length and breadth of the community and beyond for amazing work they did for many many years on their raffle, so amazing that we have not been able to replace this raffle as yet. Maura Kelly and Mary Costello were the Dog Show heroes for as many years as I can remember, making it the great event attraction that it is now. We are so thankful for so many years of dedication.

Finally to our Pastoral Council and Finance Committee, to each of you who give so generously of your time to help our Parish and Community
