Next weekend sees the first of two very busy weekends for Slaney Valley competitors in the National Finals which will be held Athlone IT. Slaney Valley is representing Carlow in cycling on grass, Duathlon, model making, mixed distance relay and swimming.

Kids’ Club for primary school
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Michael O’Brien, Clone who died on June 26, aged 94. The Funeral Mass was celebrated in Monageer Church by Fr Cosgrave and the burial was in Monageer [new] cemetery.
To Michael Rowsome, Tomsollagh whose aunt Bridget Murphy, Bree and formerly Caim also died. To Ann Wall, Ballinbarna whose uncle Patrick McDonald, Dublin [formerly Crossabeg} departed this life on July 16, aged 82. The requiem mass and the burial took place in Dublin.
There was no winner of the jackpot which now stands at €7,300. The numbers drawn were 9, 18, 26, 27. There was one match-three winner to win/share €160 who was Elaine Byrne c/0 Marie Stokes. The next draw is on Tuesday, August 16, at 9, 30 p.m. in the new GAA Complex.
